I quite liked Poltergeist 2 and Fright Night 2, the latter holding up quite well even now. The rest.. well, the titles alone speak for themselves

Good list...a lot of garbage here. But some I still like. I thought "Poltergeist 2" worked pretty well. "The Ring 2" and "Exorcist 2" were no masterpieces, but were fun enough for a Horror-Fan like me. "Blair Witch 2" I liked very much actually. It was impossible to repeat the success and impact of the first one...so it was correct to do something completely different. And it turned out pretty well I would say. As for all the Freddy, Jason, Chucky and Myers movies....well, as cheesy and cheap some of their movies might be...I just can't get enough of them. Always fun to see their next kill...well, maybe that's just me then. "Saw 3" wasn't bad. It got a little out of hand with part 4 and 5. But all in all, if you watch them all and follow the story they're good enough...too less kills and 4 and 5 though. Jaws 3 was pretty awful too btw, worse than the 2nd.

Good list mostly.....but were any of the Blade films really meant to be horror. Not scary, not gory, just supernatural-lite action. Hellboy wouldnt be considered horror even though it has demons, would it?

AvP:R at #2? Now it is a bad film and I'd fully expect it to be here but its still a little on the harsh side to put it that high. At least the Predator is pretty cool in it... That's its ONLY redeeming factor but to say its worse than a lot of the films on this list is harsh.

Tell you what a surprisingly GOOD horror sequal is. Wrong Turn 2. It went straight to DVD but is miles better than the original, funny, scary, etc etc. But yes, all of these are accurate. Many of them you don't have to actually watch to know that they're dire.

There's some solid choices on here but surely nominating two of the Child's Play series over a single mention of any other Howling film is criminal! Yes, Child's Play 3 is a total stinker but that and Seed of Chucky are Citizen Kane's compared to Howling VII: New Moon Rising! Hell, even Howling II is phenomenal compared to III, IV and V. Part six though... I like that one. Hellraiser III? That one gets so much unnecessary flack. It may be a little goofy but as a mildly frightening and imaginative piece of horror entertainment it's a total peach. For me the Hellraiser series died after number five, Inferno (and even that was pushing it). Six, seven, eight and nine should be flushed down the toilet and left to drift the cinematic sewers. Texas Chainsaw: The Beginning is far, far, far worse than TCM: Next Generation. At least Next Generation had a paucit of imagination and a pleasantly cuckoo finale; something that the remakes prequel-sequel-whatever was completely bereft of. Silent Night Deadly Night 2... Awful, yes, but hilarious. And it's fantastic compared to the soul destroying part 3 ("Better Watch Out!"). What happened to you, Monte Hellman? From Two Lane Blacktop to THAT?! Return of the Living Dead 5.... Bad but better than number four. Necropolis is a strong contender for one of the worst films ever created, let alone worst horror sequels. I'm also surprised that none of these got a mention: Curse of the Puppet Master (or any of the PM films from that point on), any Children of the Corn (but not three though. Three's ace), Day of the Dead 2: Contagium (it's not even a sodding word!), The Changeling 2, CHUD II: Bud the Chud, any Nu Image made Creature Feature sequel (Crocodile 2, Spiders 2, Octopus 2, Shark Attack 2 etc etc), 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams, Blood Feast 2: All U Can Eat, Feast II, The Mangler 2- Graduation Day, Warlock III and Urban Legends 2 or 3. All of those are far worse than even the lousiest entries in the Critters or Poltergist series'...

The Fly 2 is a great movie. It only looks bad because it's the sequel to one of the best films ever made. It was never going to be up to Cronenberg's standard but it doesn't betray the original plot wise and it ties things up at the end neatly enough that no one's tried to make The Fly 3 yet (which for the record I'd still watch).

Scream 3 or 4 should be on the list but because & only because of Parker Posey. I'd choose number 4.

I really enjoyed this list, but if it has one flaw it's that many of the films on the list are sequels to originals that were fairly poor in the first place. Maybe it's because I'm not a dedicated horrorphile (though I do like the genre), but I though that the original Leprechaun was a load of guff in itself and so am not surprised to find out that a sequel set in space wasn't particularly great. That minor grip aside I agree with much of what's on this list and well done for singling out Julian Beck in Poltergeist 2 as being the best thing in it. He scared the cr#p out of me when I was a kid, with that creepy song he sings in it. Poltergeist 3 was far, far worse than 2 though. For me though, the one thing more bad/evil/terrifying/baffling than anything on this list has got to be King of Cinema's DVD collection...Apologies KOC, but I saw that list you posted up there and...well....yeesh...

Horror is one of the genres that churns out more turds per year than any other, thats why you get so many stinkers. Pun intended.

No "Final Destination 3"? Watched that as part of a horror night when I turned 15. Correction: I watched that as comedy to recover from "The Blair Witch Project". THAT is how bad FD3 is.

MoodMonkey, LOL. Thanks for saving me time. Would buy you a beer if we were at a bar/pub. Halloween 6 should be on here instead of Ressurection (sp?). That one tries to change the mythology of the series by turning Michael into a cult member / devil worshipper or something, depending on which version you watch of it.

End of story?? far from it you hateful spud. on a previous post you mentioned that you worked with vulnerable young disabled people. im certain it would not take much effort on my part to find out which organisations in wakefield employ on a voluntary or paid basis a certain Dabion Donaldson and i'm sure they would be delighted to hear your rancid utterings (i have a 'Down Syndrome mouth' whatever that is and you referred to a poster named Mings as 'mongs'on another thread). So please, pretty please just f**k off with the bigoted ramblings ok? end of d******d. @ the rest of the world - now lets get back to talking films ok?

I have to agree with this list. You guys are amazing for all that you guys post. Some movies I didn't even know there were sequels to them. Some that I've seen, I didn't have to read about why you thought they were horrible cause I already knew. lol. Some of them I had to read and see if you agreed with me on what I thought like Halloween: Resurrection which p****d me off to the tee with the killing of Laurie Strode. Did you ever watch the Halloween interview on the Biography channel where Jamie Lee Curtis expresses how p****d she was when after she went through all that work of pitching the idea and filming H20 that the studio told her that there is a contract saying Michael Myers can't be killed. Hence why Halloween: Resurrected was pitched and she dies. SOOO STUPID!! I enjoyed The Ring Too and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Either way great list! Twitter @mdr87

There is no connection between Child's Play 3 and the Jamie Bulger crime. The whole thing was made up, mostly by The Sun and neither murderer had watched the film. I have to agree that it's not particularly good, but does at least keep to the rules of its franchise and is a guilty pleasure of mine. I’d give its spot to Gingerdead Man 2: Passion of the Crust. Not even Gary Busey came back for that s**t.

I believe the saw franchise to be one of the best horror franchises to be around, I think saw III was one of the strongest & best sequel in the series. Saw The Final Chapter was the most disapointing sequel in the series, it could of been so much more then it was but it has still left me hungry fir more, I really want to see an 8th installment. Lost boys 2 was just s**t, why warner brothers allowed this movie to be made is beyond me. I was 1 if the millions that wanted a sequel to the greatest vampire movie ever but I didn't want what we got. The 3rd cash in was also s**t but it was better then tribe. Jaws is my favourite movie ever, jaws 2 was alrite, but jaws 3 & 4 were bollox. When I was a teenager I wrote a script titled JAWS THE FINAL CONFLICT, it was a sequel to Jaws 2 forgetting the events of jaws 3 & 4, it went back to amity island & saw the return of chief brody & mat hooper. I sent the script to universal studios & they replied saying they couldn't do anything with my script as I wasn't a licensed screen writer & they kept my script.

Much like the briefly mentioned Halloween 3, Friday the 13th A New Beginning gets way more hate than it deserves. I could point out far worse entries from any of the "Jason Travels Somewhere" sequels or the Carrie vs Jason Sequel. 5 lacks the toungue-in-cheek violent fun that is "Jason Lives", superior filmmaking and special effects of "The Final Chapter", or the creepy "Deliverance" hillbilly vibe of Friday the 13th 2 but it's a fairly decent stand alone slasher flick that seems to be an homage to 70's Grindhouse films and happens to have a Jason Imposter. And why not? Jason is supposedly dead and the idea of a copycat killer was a bit ahead of it's time now that it's common place not only in horror cinema but the real world. Just food for thought.
