    Spot on with Thunderbirds. It's the only film I've ever walked out of, it was absolutely terrible with no redeeming features.

    Looking at this list, Daredevil and Fantastic Four weren't THAT bad...Seriously, were both of these movies worse than Battlefield Earth?

    Let's be fair with The Punisher... The Lundgren version is better than the Thomas Jane / Travolta version. That isn't saying much but both films are inferior to Punisher - War Zone.

    I'm confused... didn't you guys remove an article recently because you felt its negative tone was contrary to your ethos of celebrating movies (or something to that effect)? Some of these movies are beyond terrible, but being fair others are just dull or disappointing. Daredevil, as an example, was a bit poor, not awful, had some nice elements (I'm looking at you Colin Farrell you big magic ham) and doesn't really belong in the same list as Max Payne or Howard the Duck. You did forget Dungeons and Dragons though...

    Wow. I...was surprised at how many films on here I had seen and actually liked (one of which I rewatched recently, not naming. You at the back, I'm not naming!) Although "The Time Traveller's Wife"...yeah. All the quirkiness and character idiosyncracies were shaved from the film adap as well, which is inherently wiping any identity from it. Addtionally, when I saw this, having seen Eric Bana in "Star Trek" a few months previously, I couldn't quite take him seriously :/

    I agree with the scrolling too. I don't have fast internet so it's frustrating. It should be simpler to navigate across the lists like a slideshow or something. But seriously. Fantastic 4 wasn't THAT BAD. I actually liked that one. But I did not enjoy the second one. Although, I was young when I first saw it.

    You can't call a film good just because it's faithful to the source material. You just can't. Look at Jaws, The Shining, Jurassic Park, major changes were made to the plots and they were actually better than the books. Also maybe more than those, by the third instalment of the Bourne Trilogy they'd pretty much discarded the plot of the novels and they were still great. What works in the source material wont necessarily work on screen. Oh and Street Fighter was utter s**te, I remember seeing it in the cinema and i hated it then, and i was 12. Watch the animated film, much better

No-one is suggesting that you are not entitled to opine about such vintage contributions to celluloid as Lost in Space or Tekken but like any guilty pleasure it is often best to either keep it to yourself or admit that you know it is bad but that you don't care. Simply put, do not attempt to justify a movie that you know you shouldn't like but do by comparing it with what is obviously a superior movie. Think of it this way: I love pork scratchings, even though I know they are cack and made of pig scrotum. I do not apologize for this. However, I do not justify this pork lust by comparing them to a roast pork lunch with all the trimmings either.

    What do you mean 'if I think your opinions on all the films you have mention are c**p'? 99.9% of everything you write on these pages isn't just c**p, it's complete and utter garbage, boiled in s**t, eaten, redigested and then vomited out through your prolapsed anus onto your computer keyboard and onto our screens where we have to wade through reams of your rambling sexual fantasies about immature boys. I really do apologize if I haven't been clear, I think your opinions on film are some of the dumbest, most vapid sentences I've ever had the misfortune to see.     Yeah, Prince Caspian p****d me off to no end. But no Black Cauldron or Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Not only were they unfaithful to the book, they were also contemptible pieces of c**p. BUT, that's not to say you NEED to be faithful to the book; however, if you make changes, make the story BETTER. Take for example, Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame. VASTLY different from the book, but I think it was also significantly better and more meaningful. No denying Victor Hugo was a talented man (Les Miserables is, in my opinion, the greatest story ever told), but I think his stories lend themselves better to adaptation. Also, the musical format of both Les Mis and Hunchback allowed characters to express emotions in three minutes when it took Hugo fifty pages. (That said, any version of Les Mis that keeps SPOILERS Javert or Jean Valjean alive misses the point of their characters and ruins the beauty of the story).

    I cannot believe that nobody has mentioned the travesty that is "The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle"- I actually PAID and STOOD in line fro that film- as a nod of affection to Jay Ward's classic cartoon. Oh Robert de Niro, what were you thinking???? The most wrong-headed horrible adaptation EVER!!

    LOVED Scooby Doo and Howard the Duck. Really enjoyed Memoirs of a Geisha even though they changed one character from a Japanese man to an American General and altered the character of Nobo. They RUINED Inspector Gadget for me, I mean the Claw was never ever seen, well his face never was. And have to say I preffered the BBC's adaption of Prince Caspian that they did in the 80's.

    I hate to admit it but there are a few films on this list i actually enjoyed! Most of them i didn't but there were a few i didn't feel were that terrible! And to be fair to the Scooby Doo movie i thought the casting was perfect!

    @FranJester: Can you explain that to me? I've heard that argument before, but I never got it. Willy Wonka's character is destroyed, the flashbacks ruin it... I don't quite get how it's closer to the book, and that's one of my favorite books of all time!

    Totally into where you're going with this, and your opinions are right on the money Josh, but I'm on page ten of fifty, and the format for how you presented it is just about killing me. There's not enough content per page to justify uploading another every fifteen seconds, or however long it takes to read the captions. I'm not on a slow connection either, but with all the ads and widgets loading every time...I'm just saying next time you want to present this much info a single page or maybe ten films per over five pages might be a little more user friendly. But if I turn it into a drinking game it's not so bad...

    @StevePotter well, with the exception of the flashbacks and the weird back story they gave to willy wonka, the rest was closer to the book. Just to name a few, The oompa loompa songs were the same ones in the book, the bit with vveruca salt was squirrels in the book and not the geese that were in the original movie, his dad was still in it and worked at a toothpate factory, the bit where you see all the kids walk out at the end was in the book. Just details like this were more accurate to the books portrayal! I actually am a fan of both the films but the remake did have more elements that were true to the book!

    Where's Eragon? Not even counting the bajillion times they massacred the plot: they failed with character development, the conversation was lousy, the battles were cheap ripoffs of the lord of the rings, and the costumes were laughable (almost embarrasing). Fans of the books were outraged and the casual viewers that I know have seen it forgot they ever saw it! It's not like the movie was under the radar either, it made 23 million on the first weekend.

    Do TV adaptations count? SkyOne's Going Postal makes all of these look like Citizen Kane. Seriously, the screenwriter didn't even read the book. It is OBJECTIVELY the worst adaptation ever made, and I am normally very lenient about this.

    Also, how 'bout "Shutter Island"? It was a great film, but a terrible book adaptation. Stripped away every element that made the book gripping and turned it into a run-o'-the-mill psych-thriller. Not to mention the complete underwhelmingness of the big reveal, which, even though I'd worked it out from the trailer, still made me gasp in literary form. Gah.

    I agree with Thunderbirds as number 1. If anything, the original show was about two things... Peril and Destruction. Both of which are severely lacking. And of course making kids the stars of the show and the have characters we love sit round doing nothing is beyond ridiculous.
