Have you guys even seen Primal Fear? During the trial Aaron Stampler plays on the dual personality ruse to be declared mentally incompetant and then later, in his cell awaiting transfer to a psychiatric facility he admits to Vail that he created the whole thing to evade prosecution. Therefore he doesnt announce his guilt to the entire court and does confide in Vail in a side room. He gets the easier option of psychiatric care instead of being banged up and he remembers everything. Try going back to the DVD - its a pretty good film if you listen to the dialoouge at all.

Primal Fear was a great movie....even though you did misinterpret it a bit. I would also add "A Perfect Murder" on the list here....and maybe, for some part, "Heat".

I hope TF realises that some of the films on this list are remakes or, dear god, reimaginings. Do remakes really count?

In keeping with the above comment, surely you can't have both the Departed AND Inferal Affairs on this list. Even if you had to, surely they should be counted as one entry, or at least be next o each other on the list. I'd personally swap around numbers 1 & 2 - The Godfather one is surely the more iconic?

Mark Zuckerberg's betrayal of Eduardo Saverin in The Social Network is pretty depressing.

In Ghost, Carls betrayal of Sam was pretty nasty, on account of Sam losing his life in the process.

Apart from Joe betraying himself, what about in the beginning when he betrays his closest friend Seth (Paul Dano) for his gold???

I went through this assuming that The Usual Suspects would be 1.

I thought Judas would be number 1, seeing how his name alone is the by-word for treachery.

Number 1: Don't you mean 'seek refuge from the Empire' surely not the Republic? Right?

This should have included Jimmy Loughnan from Chopper, anyone from Down Terrace, Tonny from Pusher, and maybe Tyler from Fight Club

Oh and btw, in Looper, JGL shoots himself in the chest not the head, a minor detail but inaccurate nonetheless. TF I do wish you would perform some sort of quality check before posting these features as your lack of accuracy is somewhat disconcerting and does provide the reader with a lack of trust when the information you are providing is incorrect and not to mention the embarresment this must cause as these types of errors are quite frequent I must add. Keep up the good work lol lmfao wtf omg pmsl ;p

RE: Treasue of the Sierra Madre I don't know what version Total Film has seen but while Dobbs does shoot Curtin, Curtin doesn't die. Unless that's his twin laughing with Howard at the end of the film.

"Mr Orange really has us believing he’s a bona fide crim, which makes his confession all the more shocking" - Really? Because I'm sure if you watch the film, you see him getting trained for the undercover operation for a good portion of his time on screen.

What about Miranda Al-Ghul (Marion Cotillard) in “The Dark Night Rises“ or even Ra's Al-Ghul himself in Batman Begins??

How about John Amos in DIE HARD 2? I saw that opening weekend with a packed theater, and everyone simultaneously said, OHHHHHHHH when he revealed himself to be a villain. John Goodman in THE BIG EASY. The worst one of all, Diane Franklin in THE LAST AMERICAN VIRGIN. I'm still angry, grrrr.
