"Cowboys And Aliens"? Seriously? Might be not perfect, but far from being one of the worst! Good, innocent fun! Also "Hangover 2" was pretty much fun. I was happy to see more of Ed Helms, Ken Jeong and Zach (he was better than in the first) and less of Bradley (he got a little out of shape...didn't he?). Of course, it's the same thing again...but it's also fun again! And I think Mike Tyson really tried hard (I heard he took actually singin lessons for that - well, claim your money back Mike!) "Pirates of the Carribean" actually I found the best after the first installment. The third was very weak...this was a huge step in the right direction (thankfully without Orlando and Kiera). Agree with you fully with "No Strings Attached", "Abduction", "Arthur", "Bad Teacher" and "Twilight". Anything with Lautner, Pattinson, Kutcher, Russell Brand (one trick pony) and Cameron Diaz (not funny anymore, get some parts that fit your age and your smoke-wrinkled face!) is just horrendous

50 is a huge number of a worst film of the year list. Loads of these are bad films, yes, but there is some redemptive feature there that keeps them away from being the worst.

Cars 2 was rotten, there's no doubt about it. However, to make it better, one should remove McQueen and Mater and focus on Michael Caine's character? Caine is a stupendous actor, truly brilliant. In Cars 2 he was terrible and the character was awful; not even a character. Equally bad was his sidekick, lazily voiced by Emily Mortimer. This film would be made worse by focusing on Finn McMissile and this seems a little bit of English conceit.

Hi Total film, Thats a bit hard I appreciate some films may not make it onto the Oscar shortlist but that doesnt stop them from being fun and light entertainment. I liked Sanctum, Cowboys and Aliens, Hangover II, Green Lantern and Sucker Punch for the movies that they were. 50 movies is a bit much. p.s. Green Lantern is not marvel.... its DC.

When I saw the link for this I knew TF was going to struggle to pull together 50 worst films of the year. Some of these didn't even reach the cinema mainstream. You guys get worse and worse.

Many of the films on here were rated 3 stars on their cinematic release in your magazine. 3 stars, as per TF magazine means it was good. As for 'The Hangover: Part 2', it was rated 4 stars on it's cinematic release, suggesting very good. Which I thought it was.

So glad "Cowboys and Aliens" was in here, it was a terrible film that cr*pped all over the GN it was supposedly based on. First film since "Clash of the Titans" 2010 to put me off an actor.

Hangover 2, if viewed out of context of the first, is an extremely funny movie. The only downside to it I found was how similar it was to the first film, which as I watched the first one the night before going to see it made it way too repetitive for me.

In agreement with you on pretty much everthing here. Which is a bit of a problem when as has been said, TF gave good reviews to a few of these. Sucker Punch had a lot of bad write ups but I was still intrigued and TF gave it a decent review so I went for it- and fell asleep in the cinema. Way too many fence sitting 3 star reviews this year making it difficult to trust the opinions of the mag.

Backing up what others have said, it is a bit hypocritical of you to place some of these movies in this list seeing as you rated them to be quite decent in your magazine publications. I can't help but feel TF seem to just join the bandwagon on certain films, for example if they gain bad press then all of a sudden, you seem to slate it but if it happens to gain any sort of recognition then you are its biggest fan. You also need to research better as Green Lantern is from DC Comics, not Marvel so the point you made about it was inaccurate. I quite enjoyed Sucker Punch and Hangover, Pirates was okay but I agree it wasn't the greatest but I can't say that it deserves to be in the list of the 50 worst. You mean to say films such as New Years Eve and Kung Fu Panda 2 are better then some of these listed? Poor compilation.

For the most part, I agree on these but Killing Bono a bad film, WHAT?!?! I thought it was very entertaining and very amusing. Pretty good movie. And another thing, why was it put on the top ten list of worst of the year in your recent magazine? Why not put Adam Sandler on that short-list (thankgod you put him in the long list!). Why isn't Final Destination 5 here over Killing bono? Final destination 5 was horrible and without a doubt one of the worst films ever made (not far off from Troll 2). Friends with benefits should have been here if No Strings attached was as it had exactly the same plot. Shame, totalfilm. Shame.

My own list : 1) I Don't Know How She Does It 2) The Child's Eye 3) Red Riding Hood 4) Troll Hunter 5) Rare Exports - A Christmas Tale 6) Conan the Barbarian 7) Priest 8) Sucker Punch 9) Bad Teacher 10) The Conspirator 11) In Time Also, I think Contagion deserves a mention. Steven Soderbergh called a bunch of his famous friends, gave them bit unchallenging parts and then made a film about people talking and thinking while on the telephone, all of it because a bat bit the a*s of a pig in the first place. (And also, the unfaithful wife dies first... how convenient and stupid that movie was!)

i have to defend Mr Kinnear on one thing here, the 3 and 4 star reviews given for some of these film on theatrical release may not have been him (i'm not going to check them all) and he may not agree with them. Not everyone at TF is going to agree on every film. Having said that this is far from a great list. Top ten would have done with a more detailed reason as to why you didn't like them. The forums and comments sections are a great way to get feedback. You've listened before so listen again! 50 is too much, especially every day.

OMG my comment wasn't posted, not happy. I liked the list, some of these comments are a bit much. I hope they say TF should have put less, 30-40 would be good. Happy with most of the choices, and of course some of the "making better" will have issues, but it always a fun idea. For TF3, Bay should be out and replaced, and the new director should add gravitas to the action in a way TF1 almost did. Cowboys and Aliens I loved, I can understand why it could be criticized but it really wasn't bad at all. I think a bad choice was making Wilda another (unexplained) alien race. I understand the conflict could bring this other alien to earth and the cowboys wouldn't care much for a backstory, but if she were a survivor of the next town it would be much more human. To make it better, have the western feel of the beginning last a bit longer (Wilde change would help that) and play up the characters, especially Sam Rockwell, the character genius. But going camp would not be that great.

Total Film gave a THREE star review for transformers 3, and now they put it on the list of worst movies of the year (?). And we can´t forget they gave a FOUR star review (yes, you're reading well) for transformers 2 (?). TF also put this movie in a list of "worst movies". And in several other lists. Personally, i don't like none of those two films, simply i put them as an example. But i think that in TF, the opinions and criterions about movies are very, very differents and extremely opposed. That's something good and interesting, but if those differences exists, they should do more lists about the same topic and with the opinion of the other people involved in this page, because like Murphy0806 says, the person who makes one review in particular, is not the same who makes a list, and obviously, the criterion is pretty different. If they do that, the debate should more interesting.

Most of them I agreed, some of them I disagree. But there are some flick been missing in this list, I mean what the hell ? I disagree with Priest, The Dilemma, Mars Need Mom, POTC IV, Sucker Punch, The Change-Up, Bad Teacher, Arthur, Hereafter, Prom, The Smurfs, Cowboy And Alien, Conan, No Sting Attached, Larry Crowne, Prom and Transformers 3. Some of them are mediocre or average, but it's not terrible especially Transformers 3 is one of the best 2011 summer flick and also the best Transformers too. I don't really understand what with all the hates ? I think the reason you list it is because you just bias or prejudice with these movies, especially Transformers 3 it's not bad but you just bias it because it's a popular and it's a Michael Bay film. I agree with Cars 2 and Trespass, both are terrible but Breaking Dawn Part 1 didn't go to #2 ? What the f**k wrong with you, Simon Kinnear ? You f*****g lunatic! And you're forgot One Day, Diary of Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules, Red Riding Hood, Something Borrowed, Passion Play, In Time, Human Centipede Part II and Spy Kid 4 to include in the list ??? What a f*****g moron are you ? Yes, Zookeeper is really f*****g bad. But no Spy Kid 4 ? This is the pure garbage that shouldn't been made! It's Robert Rodigrez disaster film, a f*****g real disaster film! I don't know man, you didn't see all the worse of the year yet. If you see all the worse of the year, then should list Red Riding Hood, Something Borrowed, One Day, In Time, Passion Play, and Spy Kid 4 too. These all f*****g terrible than Priest, The Dilemma, Mars Need Mom, POTC IV, Sucker Punch, The Change-Up, Bad Teacher, Arthur, Hereafter, Prom, The Smurfs, Cowboy And Alien, Conan, No Sting Attached, Larry Crowne, Prom and Transformers 3. You f*****g a*s hole Simon Kinnear prick!

But can you tell give me a reason, why you enjoy the garbage like Diary of Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules, Red Riding Hood, In Time & Spy Kid 4 ? Especially Red Riding Hood and Spy Kid 4, when these movies are all danger to all human being! I want to know and I don't want to tell you that you have a very bad tasting in the movie! Yes it's a bloody film, so what ? Doesn't mean it can't suck! At lease Transformers 3 had more entertaining than these movies, you stupid British!

Yes this is a pretty accurate list but I disagree with a few entries, plus I think its odd that many of the films here were given a good review by Total Film, especially Hangover 2, which you guys gave 4 stars!! The films listed I disagree with are: Cars 2 (not up to Pixar's standard but not exactly awful, just emotionally shallow) Cowboys and Aliens (I really enjoyed it, it delivered on its promise nothing more nothing less, even if the Sci-Fi and Western genres did not gel as fluently as they could have) Johnny English Reborn (a kind of guilty pleasure of mine, Atkinson is a good physical comedian and it made a change seeing a comedy without sex gags and consistent swearing) Transformers: Dark of the Moon (Not exactly the years worst film, just an average blockbuster, like all the other Transformer films) Dream House (Another guilty pleasure, a victim more of p**s poor post production really) Sucker Punch (Visually and audiably ambitious, just with a rather flat story) Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides (better than part 3, story was very muddled but some of the humour was good and Sparrow was a joy as usual) Mars Need Moms and The Three Musketeers were passable but I can't argue with them being included here. Some of you reading may think I'm a tool for liking some of these films but I just think that these particular titles were not bad enough to be in the list and hey only disagreeing on 8/50 is not exactly bad. Even if a little film called The Violent Kind is missing, oh and Honey 2, now they are a barrel load of excrement!

See this is why I'm getting more and more annoyed at Total Film, et al - you've put Hangover Part II in this list, but it still got reviewed 4 stars by your magazine! How is that possible? I have to disagree slightly with Murphy0806 - yes, reviewers have different opinions, but the general consensus of the magazine as a brand should be at least consistent: in this example Total Film has basically said Hangover Part II is an excellent film, but at the same time it's one of the worst 50 of the year! 50 is too many for most features (especially ones such as this) - reduce the number, make sure you are not contradicting yourselves (too much) and you will reduce the amount of controversy you get.

I avoided most of this 50 on the back of personal taste and bad reviews but I did quite enjoy Anuvahood, Hangover 2 and Johnny English Reborn. Worst film for me was the bizarre The Devil`s Double although I was pretty much bored throughout Contagion, Holy Rollers and Tree of Life.

I actually really enjoyed POTC 4! I thought it was one of the best of the franchise, not to the same level as the first one, but by no means one of the worst films of the year! Hangover 2 was enjoyable, nowhere near as good as the first one but enjoyable! Green Lantern was definitely a bit of a guilty pleasure as was Just Go With It, both of which which i thought were just a nice, easy-going, fun movies that weren't trying to be anything bigger! One thing i feel obliged state, which has nothing to do with the list itself just one of my own personal pet peeves, is that some people who post comments on these features have really terrible grammar and spelling! Immortals was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen in my life and you didn’t review it here? This movie was an explosion of blood, REALLY inaccurate mythology and very but VERY bad actors! I mean, are you really saying that ‘Cars 2’ was worse than Immortals? Have you seen the storyline? The characters? The actors? It was a total c**p! And in the trailer the end of the movie appeared. This movie didn’t make any sense at all! In the middle of the movie, suddenly, a tiny and puny Zeus appeared and killed his own son for trying to help the guy who was going to save the world! Really, I would put it in rank 3 at the least. Thanks for reading this.
