Vampire Academy

Author: Richelle Mead
The pitch: Rose Hathaway, a half human/half vampire and best friend Lissa, a Princess of the Moroi vampires, are on the run from evil dead-soul monsters the Strigoi.
They are found by handsome guardian Dimitri, who brings them back to the Vampire Academy in Montana, and into the hands of the Strigoi...
The pedigree: The Vampire Academy series has boomed in popularity off the back of Twilight’s success, with fans desperate for something else to sink their teeth into.
This smartly written and engaging series has sated the appetite for vampire stories, and become a success in its own right.
Books in series: Four.
Web presence: 183,000 Google hits.
Big-screen potential: No plans yet, but with Twilight raking in the pennies, it can’t be far off.
Next: Noughts & Crosses

I hope they get someone good to direct The Artemis Fowl books! Plus, you should have The Darren Shan Saga on there. Vampires - totally different to Twilight ones though - and witches and DESTINY. Those were huge a few years ago!

the Tally Youngblood series (four in total: Uglies, Pretties, Specials, and Extras--although Extras could be left off the list) would make an awesome saga! The heroine is also a female who's strong-willed and adventurous! =)

Nice to see my two favorite series' up there, as most Artemis Fowl fans can say, we've been waiting for aaaages for the film! Right now though, I would have to say Vampirates is my winner, fabulous books, and forget it being the next Twilight, Vampirates would surpass it by a mile! (or 2, or 3...or 10)

what about Muddle Earth?! It's f*****g awesome and would be great for adults as well as little kids thinking it's Lord of the Rings (as I did when I bought it). Dreamworks to make a 3-D version faturing the voices of Will Porter and John Cleese
