So, Arnie’s been seen on the Terminator 4 set and internet whispers are suggesting McG is going to use fancy CGI tricks to drop the Governanator into his robot flick. But what other upcoming films could benefit from Schwarzenegger’s presence?
7. The A-Team
Why we want him: You could pretty much cut-and-paste any previous Arnie performance into The A-Team and no-one would bat an eyelid (apart from maybe Conan, but Howling Mad Murdock used to wear some pretty weird stuff, so there’s still a way of making it work).
Actually, this one’s such a no-brainer we’re pretty sure that the A-Team team are negotiating with Arnie’s people as we speak.
Who he’d play: Hmm, Colonel Hannibal Smith, perhaps? He’d even bring his own stogies...
6. GI Joe: Rise Of Cobra
Why we want him: Okay, so he’s more Austrian hero than American Hero, but, let’s face it, Arnie has looked like an action figure for much of his career – his eyes only go from left to right, his hair never changes and Predator’s Dutch looked more like a GI Joe than a GI Joe does – and we’d rather see him play Duke than Channing Tatum any day of the week.
Who he’d play: See above, but we reckon he’d also make a decent Destro. But that’s only because we want to hear him attempt a Scottish accent.
5. Avatar
Why we want him: Arnie, reunited with James Cameron, in the biggest boundary pushing SFX flick since Terminator 2 – what’s not to want?
Who he’d play: Details are slim, but we imagine we’d slot Arnie into any character in Avatar. Even Sigourney Weaver’s.
4. Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince
Why we want him: He’s proved he can work with kids in Kindergarten Cop. In fact, with a few fancy editing tricks, we’d wager we could drop Detective John Kimble straight into Potter seamlessly.
Who he’d play: Either Hogwarts’ newest teacher Detective John Kimble, or Dumbledore. Then he could kick Voldemort’s ass before the end of the flick and the Half-Blood Prince delay wouldn’t affect the rest of the franchise, because the story would be over.
3. Angels & Demons
Why we want him: The Da Vinci Code was one of the most boring films we’ve ever seen. Arnie’s the only man in the world that could make us want to watch the sequel.
Who he’d play: A version of Robert Langdon (sorry Tom Hanks) whose approach to mysterious puzzles hidden within paintings is to shoot the paintings. Then to shoot the person who showed him the puzzles within the paintings. Then to light a cigar and say something like ‘He’ll be more famous now he’s dead.’
2. High School Musical 4
Why we want him: Arnie’s career has spanned a lot of genres, but we’ve never heard him sing. Let’s put that right.
Who he’d play: To be honest, we don’t know that much about the High School musical series. But 4 has a character called Coach Jack Bolton in it, and if that doesn’t sound like someone Arnie could play, we’ll eat our own endo-skeleton.
1. Batman 3
Why we want him: We’re starting to get a bit bored of the Batman 3 villain rumour-mill, so let’s stop all of the non-stories all by casting Arnie immediately. Why are you looking at us like that?
Who he’d play: Mr Freeze. Seriously, what?
