This Valentine’s Day, many people will sit down to watch a DVD with their significant other.
But some people are saccharine intolerant. Some people want to vomit at the mere sight of Hugh Grant. We like those people.
So we’ve got the solution, tracking down seven of the most subversive rom-coms known to man.
Whether you’re a girl trying to sucker your man into watching something romantic or a bloke attempting to convince his lady that she’ll enjoy an action movie’s loved-up sub-plot, we present these sneaky love-wolves in genre-sheep clothing…
The Film: Napoleon Dynamite (2004)
What You Thought It Was: A nerd-com about a gawkward loner (Jon Heder) who faces the endless frustrations of school bullies, llamas and the fact that no one recognizes his skills.
What It Actually Is: In between all the class presidential comedy and geekiness, there’s a sweetly romantic love story brewing between Napoleon and Tina Marjorino’s Deb.
While Napoleon and Deb don’t really get to hook up probably (it is a quirk-fest, after all), their attraction is undeniable.
Line Of Dialogue Julia Roberts Would Be Comfortable Uttering: Deb: “Maybe you'd be interested in some home-woven handicrafts?”

Not sure about The Mummy but the others are OK. What about the following: Pirates of the Caribbean series - Just a three film love story for Knightly and Bloom with Depp as the third love interest. A Knight's Tale - Basically Heath Ledger falling in love with a few decent jousting sequences in it.

Finding Nemo is a "Man-movie"? Somehow I can't see a bunch of fella's leaving the pub on a firday night to take in a movie and choosing Finding Nemo. Shaun of The Dead, Top Gun For sure. Garden State, Napoleon Dynamite. Sure maybe. Nemo? Nope. And I agree with GrandiaKnight about The Mummy. Found that one about as romantic as a tacky valentines card.

Finding Nemo? It's must be rather embarrasing for you because that is neither a rom-com or "bloke film". It looks like you wrote this article in the same space of time that Lucas wrote "Phantom Menace".
