8 Daftest Nicolas Cage Moments

The bug-eyed blockbuster king’s goofy greatest hits

BY Sam Ashurst Mar 25th 2009 13:13PMFILED UNDER: Features

Nic Cage is about to wig out once more as a mulleted professor in city-smashing sci-fi thriller Knowing (see trailer & clips here)

But how will his latest role compare to the ludicrous line-readings, freaky glances and unnervingly gummy grins already on his loopy CV?

The Wicker Man (2006)

In a movie absolutely teeming with flat out ridiculous moments, Nic’s bike-napping scene takes some beating.

Malus commandeers pagan banshee Sister Rose’s bike with a combination of shouting and gun pointing. Before riding off like an unnaturally dark-haired Boris Johnson.

What about him pulling "scary" faces in Ghost Rider?
Acting like a two year old looking at his reflection for the first time... a very bad and certainly daft moment.

I can't even begin to say how much I just don't get Nic Cage's superstar status. He's a walking charisma vacuum (probably second only to Planky Plank Wahlberg in that regard in Hollywood) and seems to have an unerring talent for choosing only the pishest scripts to star in. Under normal circumstances the only way I could imagine anyone else with these traits being a megastar is if they had a really famous family... perhaps an uncle... with plenty of influence...

Oh, hang on...

Have you even seen Con Air? For a start it wasn't a guard he killed it was 1 of the convicts dressed as a guard, secondly he killed him because if he didn't he would've been found out as a traitor to the convicts' cause the bunny thing was just an excuse for an action one-liner
