Blue Velvet, Blood Simple and Videodrome definitely have better scenes than some of the ones here and they didn't even make it. And the "Heeeeeeere's Johnny" scene s**ts all over ET.

Your number 1 moment of the whole decade and you don't even remember it properly? Elliott isn't being chased by fed during his nighttime bike ride. He simply finds the road too bumpy and tells E.T. they'll have to walk, so E.T. makes the bike fly in front of the moon. Later, towards the end of the movie, Elliott, along his brother and his friends. rescues E.T., chased by feds, during DAYTIME!!

Pretty straight foward list, although I do disagree with some of the 'moments' you chose.... but Kinnear sort the last one out. Broches is correct.... you got that horribly wrong and finally if you're gonna use a paedo joke try and be funny... the Dead Poets Society one just falls flat....

Dario Agrento's Phenomena is about as 80's as they come. Jennifer Connelly disarmingly admits to 'loving' insects. Donald Pleasance is a paraplegic whose nurse is a chimpanzee. There is a deformed midget Borris Johnston like monster-child whose face looks like he is constantly trying to eat its way out of that rabbit's a*s with teeth from Return of he Jedi. The soundtrack contains Goblin, Motorhead and Iron Maiden. Perhaps the most important reason though is that it contains possibly the greatest revenge sequence ever, a chimpanzee armed with a straight razor!

If I gave my opinion, would anyone give a sh*t? Probably not. Just enjoy the article, be objective and appreciate the diversity of opinion. Nerds. Good work TF, 80s jonk all over other decades...

Any list that name-checks 'Anvil' and thus encourages people to watch one of the greatest documentaries of recent years (Anvil-The Story of Anvil) is OK by me.

I like 80s movies and the list has lots of good ones. But Labyrinth and The Lost Boys were missed out -classics!

And why isn't the Goonies in the top 5, at least? That's one of the defining movies of the 80s. The Color Purple, Revenge of the Nerds, Coming to America, Space Balls, Strange Brew, The... Never... Ending... Story..., Mask, The friggin Outsiders, Red Dawn, They Call Me Bruce, Six Pack, Young Guns, Rain Man, Steel Magnolias, and Nine to Five.
