9 Possible Plots For Star Trek 2

Our take on the sequel to JJ's stellar reboot...

3. Mirror, Mirror...

The various Star Trek series have a long history of exploiting the dark, parallel universe first created in the original series’ second season.

And what better villain for the revitalised, rebellious Kirk than a darker, evil version of himself?

But it has to be handled properly – and as an extra twist, what if the alternate Kirk was actually a woman? It would be a great role for a young actress and help to give more satisfying female roles in the film series.

Meanwhile, after the loss of his planet and his mother, the revelation of a goatee-sporting Evil Spock could send Zachary Quinto’s take on the character back over the edge again - and we all enjoyed it when Spock was going nuts.

Oh, and they could explore the very topical ethics of torture in true Trek debate style.

Our only real problem? The fact that they’re already in a slightly alternate universe – it might be too much for the sequel to delve into parallel worlds.

Just wanted to completely disagree with Durden. You may be a huge trek fan, but so am I. Huge. And I love what they're doing with this new series of movies. If it was set in the "real" trek universe, they wouldn't be able to do very much with it, such as destroying Vulcan. Now they can change things without pi$$ing off a lot of trekkies. Brilliant. Can't wait to see what happens next. They should remain unafraid to break the boundaries of what is considered "trek"

Got to agree with mattburgess. The freedom this new parallel universe gives them is the whole beauty of the thing. It would have been very limiting to follow the original canon to the letter. This opens so many exciting new possibilities for the franchise! Plus, they're all essentially similar, if not the same characters, so the backbone of the whole thing remains. I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do next!

The whole parallel universe where they are all women was already done by Red Dwarf! :)

I like these ideas. Apart from Khan really. He should be left where he is. Personally I'd love to see the origins of the Borg. I hear rumours that the probe from The Motion Picture was the beginning but I'm no fanatical Trekkie so can't possibly say it as truth... Another thing - why would the parallel universe have to be evil? Why not make it so our 'heroes' are actually more bent and corrupt than their counterparts? The Spock/Kirk conflict idea is a good'n too. Of course they can't possibly re-do anything akin to Amok Time now though can they? haha.
