8. Klingons
Okay, okay, we know… They’ve been overused.
But with a new universe comes new possibilities – how have the changes wrought by the space-time warping MacGuffin of the first film affected everyone’s favourite warrior race?
We’d like to find out. We know the Klingons are kicking about – they captured Nero in a subplot that was snipped from Abrams’ film, so why not have them come looking for a little vengeance (he destroyed several ships on the way out).
In fact, since Nero is a Romulan, you could combine idea No.1 and this and see the two races sparking off a conflict that drags in the Federation.
While we’re not sure we want the second Star Trek outing to fall into typical Bigger Must Be Better thinking, a blast from the past could be just what it needs.
Next: Personal Conflict

ok first of all:the whole paralel universe thing that they used in star trek 1?bull c**p!!!it sucks!!why?because it's gonna allow them from now on to make new movies, completely different from tos and if a trekkie gives then any problems...tey'll simply reply:"hey,it's a paralel universe,it's not the tos universe anymore.things are different now."!!WHICH BY THE WAY SUCKS a*s!!i hate what they're trying to do to the new star trek!!!!

Just wanted to completely disagree with Durden. You may be a huge trek fan, but so am I. Huge. And I love what they're doing with this new series of movies. If it was set in the "real" trek universe, they wouldn't be able to do very much with it, such as destroying Vulcan. Now they can change things without pi$$ing off a lot of trekkies. Brilliant. Can't wait to see what happens next. They should remain unafraid to break the boundaries of what is considered "trek"

Got to agree with mattburgess. The freedom this new parallel universe gives them is the whole beauty of the thing. It would have been very limiting to follow the original canon to the letter. This opens so many exciting new possibilities for the franchise! Plus, they're all essentially similar, if not the same characters, so the backbone of the whole thing remains. I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do next!

The whole parallel universe where they are all women was already done by Red Dwarf! :)

I like these ideas. Apart from Khan really. He should be left where he is. Personally I'd love to see the origins of the Borg. I hear rumours that the probe from The Motion Picture was the beginning but I'm no fanatical Trekkie so can't possibly say it as truth... Another thing - why would the parallel universe have to be evil? Why not make it so our 'heroes' are actually more bent and corrupt than their counterparts? The Spock/Kirk conflict idea is a good'n too. Of course they can't possibly re-do anything akin to Amok Time now though can they? haha.
