In many ways 2009’s Batman: Arkham Asylum was the videogame equivalent of Batman Begins: it featured a muscular Bats fond of breaking arms, and in contrast to its predecessors it wasn’t at all rubbish.
Skip forward to now – or Friday 21 October – and Arkham City is looking to give us the full Dark Knight treatment, taking a promising foundation and expanding it into a complex and ambitious sequel.

This has been preordered for Friday morning when I will be handily "working" from home. It will be a day of eating pizza, drinking beer and playing this game to death!!!

Slight error there Total Film. Catwoman is a FREE inclusion as long as you buy the game new. You only have to pay to donwload her content if you buy the game preowned.

Hmm, shameless puff piece. I wonder how much Total Film got for running this one...

Big GOTY runner up for sure, looks just as good as the 1st and the free roam aspect should add more of a atmospheric feel. Can't wait to see how it is, this game could either make or break this series but the hopes are high and the eagerness soars sky high.

Does anyone else see the irony about running this piece right next to "40 worst movie product placements"? Hypocrisy thy name is Total Film.

@Flaygor - They're not totally wrong as Catwoman is only free if you purchase the Catwoman edition of the game. There are other editions (Robin, Special) that don't include the Catwoman content, so you'll have to pay for it if you want to use it. @DoctorK - This wouldn't count as product placement and you're just looking for an excuse to moan. @Gav83 - It's not going to win any awards for writing, but it's also not a shameless shill either, so why so cynical? I've pre-ordered the game and will be picking it up at 9.25am after I've done the school run.

@DravenCage- Sorry mate but I am correct. You are right in that Robin and/or the Joker are limited to special editions but Catwoman is in all new copies as her content is part of the single player game wheras the others are challenge map usable only. :)

@ Flaygor - Downloadable content: On October 11, 2011, three Downloadable Content (DLC) packs were announced for release following that of the game. The first DLC is the Nightwing pack scheduled for November 1, 2011, containing Batman's ally Nightwing as a playable character for the game's challenge maps, an Animated Series alternative skin for the character, and two additional challenge maps: "Wayne Manor" and "Main Hall". The second pack is set to support the Catwoman story campaign by adding four new story-missions. The third DLC, the Robin pack, is scheduled for November 22, 2011, and contains the Robin pre-order content: the playable character, alternate appearance skins and challenge maps. Looking at that, it seems that there was some crossed wires and that there are Catwoman downloadable storyline missions to complete her saga, but you can also play as her from the start.

@DravenCage- I see what your saying it dosn't change the fact that the TF article still states that the Catwoman content is a paid for only download which in the vast majority of cases it isn't. Also the Robin pack is a day one inclusion if you buy from Game and the Joker is a Tesco exclusive I think. Not sure about Nightwing though. Also little tip install the Catwoman content before you start the game as it changes the starting scene making it longer and also intergrates her sections into the main game. :)

@DravenCage- Don't get me wrong the game looks amazing & i'll def pick it up at some stage but a shameless shill is exactly what this is! It's not a review because the the word review isn't mentioned anywhere and there's no criticism of the game, whatsoever. It reads "The Total Film verdict on the new Batman videogame" which sneakily implies a review. It's a classic puff piece. So, they were obviously paid to do this 10 page "feature". Which slightly worries me because if they were paid to do this this then what else are they taking money for? E.g. a 3 star instead of a 2 star movie review?? It's this same kind of commercialism that's to blame for all these crappy sequels/reboots/remakes we've been getting the last few years and it's bull. I digress. Rant over.

@Flaygor- You mentioned in your last post, that if you download the Catwoman content before starting the game, it intergrates her story into the main game. I was just wondering if it does this automatically if you download her 1st, or do you still have to manually choose to have her story as part of the main game?

@mrblonde- As long as you enter the code before you start the game she is fully intergrated (roughly 10% of the game is playable as her). No need to manually activate her content once downloaded.
