I'm guessing this list will be ongoing. Very interesting to see a Total Film list below 10 not to mention 50.

Seriously, the 4th best film of the year was Iron man 3? It was nonsensical pap.. Wouldn't totally agree JDogg1982 about Zero Dark Thirty but I watched it twice and other than the end set piece it was pretty dull.

Some Good films but in the wrong order. Star Trek, Man of Steel, and Iron man 3 should not even be in the top 30. Also there is no animation despite films like Frozen, The Wind Rises and monsters university this year.

@endofdays. Vote? I thought this list was voted by TF writers. Anyway, it's all about opinions, as is anything that is considered 'good' or 'bad'. Iron Man 3, 4th best film of the year? Really? That's my reaction to reading that and I'm somewhat surprised by that, but hey, it's TF's choice, so who am I or anyone else to argue. It's not as if 'top 50 movies of 2013' is set in stone. Just someone's opinion, unless of course, that because TF is a film review magazine, they have to be right? But then, who determines what is considered to be the correct 'top 50'?;)

Is it me or was this a sh/t year for quality control in the 2013 blockbusters? Iron Man 3, Man of Steel, Pacific Rim. Only Thor: TDW lived up to the hype. Good little films shone through.

You have films on here that you haven't even reviewed yet which makes it a list of "best of's" rather redundant, it's more a list of 50 films from 2013 that you perhaps need to be aware of. Oh and for the love of Pete get rid of the pop up adverts. For someone as folliclly challenged as me, an advert for Head and Shoulders is quite distressing

Also, i sometimes wonder if these lists of 'best films' are planned or improvised. Theyre not done on public votes are they? Maybe in future some should be because a lot of them seem like it's just a random list of the first 50 films anyone could think of from the last 12 months. Just me on this one?

The Worlds End shouldn't be anywhere near this list, I loved Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead but there was almost nothing worthy of a Best list in that movie, even if a few fight scenes were fun. Simon Pegg was annoying and there were not nearly enough laughs....of course that is my opinion, but to have it so highly placed on a list seems odd.

'Ben Kingsley in with an outside chance of an Oscar'??? Are you f*ckin kidding??! I was cringing at his cartoon character cockney accent and thought it was a joke until it slowly started dawning on me that they HAD actually done that twist! Didn't think the film was that bad, but that 'twist' in the middle left me numb with disappointment for about 10 mins. Awful, awful decision.

Seriously!? A top 50 of 2013, and The Grandmaster is missing!? I know the western release was butchered, as usual, but the Hong Kong cut is tremendous. The list seems extremely western-cinema orientated, while South Korea, Japan and many other movies often churn out great movies every year, which surely are miles better than f*****g Anchorman 2.

I am not surprised Gravity is in the first place, I actually saw it coming. It is cinema at its best.. From Sandra's acting, to the visual effects, to the sound effects, to the Steven Price scores, and most of all the spiritual and emotional message it held. One of the best movies in YEARS! This is a MUST see movie.

A list of good films, a few great films, but Gravity as #1, really people? I laughed out loud thru much of that film and had to use fast forward thru several scenes to save my sanity. NASA has posted so many bloopers re: this film that it leaves most of the content unbelievable. So much of that mess took advantage of the ignorance of the general viewing public about aerospace engineering, physics and astronautics (even the most basic high school stuff) that any reasonable person must assume the producers chose to save the money on retaining a professional advisor. You cannot be serious. Talk to any qualified scientist or sci-fi aficionado and perhaps you'll be moved to revise this list. Gravity should be much closer to #50, if on the list at all. It was the dumbest movie I've seen in years, Oscar nods notwithstanding.

I wonder how much of this list was influenced by nothing more than an equal combination of star power and box office take vs. true quality. Really. There's a mix of good films, even a few potentially great films along with an equal list fluff and obvious attacks on the perception of intelligent viewers for the sake of only mass entertainment. And Gravity as #1, really? Talk about fluff and entertainment value. They start it off with a disclaimer about how there is no sound in space and then win 2 Oscars for sound. Just silly stuff...
