Best & Worst: Kevin Smith

15 years of highs and lows with the king of stoner cinema

Best & Worst: Sex Act

The Best: Caitlin And The Dead Guy

Film: Clerks (1994)

Why It Rocks: Necrophilia’s hardly your go-to tittersome subject so it was either boldness or insanity that prompted Kevin Smith to plunder it for comedy in his debut film, monochrome masterpiece Clerks.

Dante’s conniving ex girlfriend Caitlin wanders into a darkened toilet, mistakes a dead old guy for Dante and the rest is sick cinematic history.

The Worst: Laxative Lovin’

Film: Zack And Miri Make A Porno (2008)

Why It Sucks: The fusty types at the MPAA unsurprisingly had a problem with some of the more graphic sex scenes in Kevin’s porno.

An 11th hour edit saved it from the box office hex of an NC-17 rating. Christ knows how the sick-making scene where Stacey (real porn star Katie Morgan) is, ahem, cured of her constipation while squatting over cameraman Deacon’s face. Yeuch!

Next: Cameo

Wow, in another article you put Alanis Morisette as God as one of biggest miscasts in movies ever and here you praise it.
