Best & Worst: Oscar Speeches
A guide for this year's nominees...
By Josh WinningJan 23rd 2010Worst: James Cameron
The Award: Best Director for Titanic
The Speech: It was all going so well for Jim. His speech was most gracious, thanking all the right people and keeping his composure. But then he finished with that nauseating last line...
“I don’t know about you, but I’m having a really great time. Every director that ever stood up here had a cast to thank, and I had a killer cast. They really threw down for me. So Kate, Gloria, Leo, Kathy, Francis and Billy, Bill, Susie, Lewis and about 80 others. You guys gave me pure gold every day and I share this gold with you.
Everybody else I was going to thank either got an Oscar or a nomination, so they’re covered. Except for my fellow producers and my brother Mike Cameron who built the deep diving camera. My lovely wife Linda, our two beautiful children. And my original producers, my parents who are here tonight. Mom, dad, there’s no way that I can express to you what I’m feeling right now, my heart is full to bursting. Except to say, I’m the king of the world!”
What it here.

Clint Eastwood and Gene Hackman's speeches when they won Best Director and Supporting Actor for Unforgiven are just pure class. They made us understand that they don't take all this seriously, they did it with humor and dignity. Worst speech ever in my opinion? Julia Roberts winning for Erin Brockovich. But maybe it's because I just can't stand her...

Christ! The worst thing about geeks is that they cant understand feelings and this is such a case! Gwenyth Paltrow was over happy and so was Halle Berry when they won and their reactions were understandable. Grow up, get a life and move out of your parents basement kiddos of Totalfilm.
