He’ll play Howard Stark's butler in TV show
Set to line up alongside Morgan Freeman
Hoyte van Hoytema to look after cinematography
This takes us back to that first teaser trailer, which looked a bit like Terrence Malick directing an ad for Persil.
It's another fairly ambient, evocative shot, which we're pretty sure is intended to symbolise journalism.
It closes with a nice bit of dialogue - young Clark saying "The world's too big, mom." With Martha's reply: "Then make it small."
Here Snyder seems to be suggesting that, with pencils, journalists can make the world seem smaller, by spreading international news across the globe.
Perhaps a shot of some Internet wouldn't have been as romantic.
We're aware the shot could symbolise something as simple as: the more you learn, the smaller the world seems.
But it's significant enough to make the trailer. We hope we're not going to be spending loads of time in Clark's classroom. We've got Smallville for that.
We'd prefer it if it was foreshadowing Clark's future career.

looks like to me the more "realistic" element in this maybe supermans fear to use his powers in public, his earth dad obviuosly wants him to keep his head down and change the worls in a human way where as i`m guessing his space dad wants him to do it the other way, i`m only guessing that from the fact the first teaser that came out had two version with a voice over from each dad telling him to change the world

IGN made a very good comment regarding the first glimpse of Zod in the trailer; the very next shot has Superman on his knees (with a very Kryptonian boot in the background). Almost as if he was kneeling before someone...

Hang on; Julia Ormond as Supe's mother? Isn't it Ayelet Zurer now?

Where is Hadouken76 with his prediction? Not about the trailer but this article.

I just assumed he had failed to save someone in an explosion and was floating in self pity.

Those are dumb questions to ask. The only one that has any validity is the first one about being unconscious. Think i'll wait for the movie rather that play with my ouiji board and speculate for six months.

The shot of the pencils is followed by one of someone writing on a chalk board and then a little boy running down the hallway. I'm guessing Clark is having trouble filtering all of the noises out "the world is too big" and locks himself in the janitors closet. Martha tries to help by telling him to focus on her voice.
Also Superman isn't really kneeling. He's falling and coughing up blood.

haha CaptainCrazy, Im the secret editor.

@KateJones, agreed. He doesn't look in the best of health, but he is on his knees (never said he was kneeling per se).
Theres all these ideas of what type of man superman is going to be like, But very little talk about who Clark will be, in the comics he's shy and clumsy but I can't see that style fitting in re-telling - I would like to see some older Clark footage (Clean shaven) to see what type of man he will be - however judging by the footage Clark is going to deal with some personal issue that Smallville tried but failed with (badly)

Looking forward to Amy Adams in this film, she already has history with Superman, through Smallville, It evens seems like from the trailer they have taken some elements from that show and with a bit of batman through in for good measure, this is my film i'm looking forward to the most next year
Quest for Peace was the first film i ever saw in the cinema a long time ago now, and loved superman ever since i saw supes fly.

@endofdays, that is exactly what I was thinking too, and boy did I get a chuckle out of it! Wouldn't it be hysterical if that was what they did? Imagine the fanboy outcry to that! Oh man.... I'd sell tickets to the fallout, it'd be awesome.

The beard has its merits but i'd go with the Groucho Marx false glasses and cigar disguise

Wonder what the chances are of the film ending with him assuming his secret identity and putting on the glasses? With regards to the Jonathan Kent Killing people thing and the outcry that has caused, I thought it was a brilliant line, but one thing i will say is that we've seen trailers in the past 'play around' with dialogue, so that may not be what he is fully saying.

has anyone read earth one superman cause the story from the trailer so far seems the same with the possible robot fights to the invasion and supes wandering around trying to find himself. If it is tht then tht would also cover wh u dont see him in his alter egos usual clothes

Further on in the trailer he's being taught how to blot out all the world's voices in his head. I think he's floating underwater and showing a moment's relief from all the noise above the surface.

@andrewwylie - it looks like they're taking elements of Earth One and Superman: Birthright (if the rumours about early scenes being set in Africa are true anyway). I wasn't a big fan of Earth One first time i read it, but i gave it another go and thought it was actually alright. It was a more modern take on the hero - but i thougth Birthright was far better

The best scene in all of Smallville's 10 Seasons was Clark saying to Lex "I'm not sure Clark Kent can save the whole world" and Lex saying "He can't, but we both know who can". This film is gonna follow those lines. What does it take for a boy/man who wants to be like everyone else to realize he isn't and that when the time comes he's gonna have to become the brightest symbol for Hope the world has ever seen. The whole Jonathan Kent thing, he realizes that Clark can either save the world or destroy it, but knows that he has to hang on to what makes gives him humanity. If he tries to save everyone, all the time and lives apart from the world he'll grow more and more apart from it, which is more dangerous in the long run.

They should have done a Red Son movie. Just for a change.
