Nice little feature, but yet another person who taints all remakes with the same brush. My response to anyone who say films shoudn't be remade is always the same; remakes aren't bad, bad remakes are bad. Ignoring the "is it or isn't it a remake" debate over Evil Dead II, there are loads of movies that are remakes AND really good/improvements on the originals. Man on Fire, Heat, Scarface, Dawn of the Dead, The Thing, The Fly, Death Race (the original, if we're being honest, is a bit s**t), Thirteen Ghosts, Little Shop of Horrors, Titanic (as a general retelling of the sinking itself), 3:10 to Yuma, The Maltese Falcon, Assault on Precinct 13 (the remake was good and the original was "inspired" by Rio Bravo), The Magnificent Seven, A Fistful of Dollars, Dangerous Liasons, No Way Out, Ocean's Eleven, The Jazz Singer, Payback, My Fair Lady, Ben Hur, Brewster's Millions (Richard Pryor version), Twelve Monkeys, Night**tch, Vanishing Point, Three Men and a Baby, Cabaret, Chicago, The Mummy, The Departed, Hairspray, The Great Gatsby, The Bucket List, Memphis Belle and Sweet November (my guilty pleasure) were all good-to-great remakes and I'm sure there are some people who b***h about remakes won't even realise that half of the films listed (off the top of my head) even ARE remakes of earlier works. On the subject of horror updates, the new Nightmare on Elm Street looks good, while the Halloween, Hills Have Eyes, Omen, Chainsaw and Friday the 13th remakes were decent enough. All I'm saying, in a long-winded way, is that before you deride remakes, make sure it's remakes you're deriding and not just remakes of films you liked first time around. Bad remakes suck, much in the same way bad original movies suck, but by wishing to eradicate remakes in general, you'd be denying us a litany of classics.

Well, sure A remake can be better than the original, but remakes in general suck all of the creativity out of the process of movie making. And your list id very suspect by the way! Guess there really is no accounting for taste. 13 Ghosts? Assault On Precinct 13? ...you actually mention that Friday The 13th and those other horror remake pieces of garbage in the same sentence as the word decent! Anyway, nice girl that Sasha Grey, takes it up the chuff like nobody's business:)
