Really glad that Portman and Bale walked away with awards but disappointed that True Grit was overlooked. The night pretty much ended up going the way everyone expected it to, with the King's Speech winning almost everything it was nominated for. Kirk Douglas was the highlight of the night though, you know....

mrblonde - The King's Speech was nominated for 12 Oscars but only won four, the same number of trophies as Inception. A pretty even-handed distribution of awards this year, even if they were all very predictable.

Is it me or does Portman look terrified standing next to Bale in the 9th picture ?

GarthMarenghi - You're quite right, I didn't watch the ceremony live and didn't realise that it was nominated for quite as many as 12 awards. More accurate, would have been to say it won all of the MAIN catergories it was nominated for. Even though it was even with Inception, they were all for technical achievements where as The King's Speech took Best Film, Actor, Director and Original Screenplay. (which I have no idea why it wasn't awarded to Nolan, but that's just me!)
