10. Total Recall (1990)

On the run from a government goon squad, Arnold Schwarzenegger is informed by his alter-ego that he’s had a bug implanted in his brain. Arnie can extract it – but only by ramming a pointy metal device up his nose.

Cue enormous amounts of wincing as the Big Oak yanks, inch by inch, a ping-pong-ballsized lump through his bulging nostril, along with lashings of blood and mucus.
