Between Christensen’s sulky adolescent brooding, Portman’s doe-eyed emptiness and a stream of beyond-cliché digital courting locales – his hometown, a balcony, a windswept field – this is as close as we’re ever going to get to Dawson’s Creek In Space.
The nagging feeling that Pacey’s going to emerge from a shuttle and deliver some smug line about everyone having their whole lives ahead of them is muted only by the crushing realisation that it’s all so very real - this it actually what Lucas made and wanted.
He can't act. She can't emote. Their dialogue is dire ("I wish I could just wish away my feelings!"). Sure - love hurts, but this is all pain, no gain.

Aren't some of these movies supposed to contain dysfunctional "bad" couples? i.e. What Happens In Vegas?

Seeing Christensen and Portman in Star Wars was like seeing the last two panda bears trying to mate to avoid extinction and fail.

I'm probably the only one on earth, but I think the Star Wars scene isn't that unrealistic at all. These are two young people who experience their first love in life (and one of them isn't even supposed to love at all). Of course it's itchy and dire. Remember your first love? Your first kiss? I bet you were as clumsy as they are and that you uttered the same kind of words. At least I dare to admit that I did.

Tom Hanks and the utterly gorgeous Audrey Tatou! yes a complete mis-match! plus the age difference! Star wars scene agreed as well, while I understand the awkwardness, there is normally a lot of passion and chemistry at work with youngsters as its all very innocent and nothing gets held back.
