A double whammy dumped on the man who at the time was the biggest star in Hollywood. Trapped In The Closet - named after an R Kelly soap musical - smashed Cruise up on two counts, putting a stake through Scientology by having Stan mistakenly identified as the reincarnation of founder L Ron Hubbard, and then parodying persistent rumours over his sexuality by having him refuse to come out of a literal closet for a large part of the episode. It's a lasting tibute to the show's amazing front - it stared down industry pressure and suffered the loss of star Isaac Hayes to push the parody through.

      i remember sneaking a peak at south park in my high school years, way back when it started, just to see what all the hubbub was all about. let me tell you i didn't laugh back then and i don't laugh now. the jokes just fall flat. yeah...i'm sorry. south park never was ever that funny; just edgy. i'll take funny over edgy anytime. family guy happens to be both of them.

      A Family Guy episode is literally just a string of one-liners with a barely cohesive plot. And yeah, it's pretty funny, but it just doesn't stand up to South Park. Watch one of the most recent episodes - Dead Celebrities - and you'll see what I mean. Biting satire, characters that never get old, and a social commentary that is always, always on the money - this is why South Park > Family Guy. Most people that don't like South Park only remember it in it's early life, back when it became insanely popular. I suggest anyone doubting should give the more recent episodes a try - it's certainly a different animal now and definitely funnier. And even if you don't like South Park, it should be given it's dues. There's not many shows that can boast the fact that they've been around 13 years and keep getting funnier and funnier?       Never been a big fan of South Park but I do enjoy their celebrity lampooning. No offence to other posters but I also think Family Guy is a load of tosh. Peace x
