City Of God director Fernando Meirelles’ magnetic adap of José Saramago’s novel about a sightless world stars Mark Ruffalo as – irony! - an optician struck down and horded, pig-like into a horrific pen along with Gael Garcia Bernal, Julianne Moore, Alice Braga and Danny Glover. Worth watching for the stark vivid way Meirelles shows blindness (dazzling white screen) and the snippets of what would happen to planes, trains and automobiles if their drivers suddenly lost their 20/20 (not good).
