In 1977, David Frost – at the time better known for comedy than current affairs – secured a head to head with a Watergate-shamed Nixon in 1977, and gave the ex-Prez a rougher ride than expected. Peter Morgan’s tense play won raves on Broadway and leads Frank Langella and Michael Sheen (Tony Blair in The Queen) reprise their roles. If there’s a question mark it hovers over director Ron Howard, whose CV contains nothing as incisive and intelligent as this has the potential to be.
