The 31 Stupidest Oscar Moments

When the Academy goes bad...

1. Best Picture Outrage

The Academy has a knack of anticipating the best films in any given year/decade/career by not rewarding them at Oscar time. In 1981 it was Martin Scorsese’s still-searing boxing masterpiece Raging Bull, which lost a points decision to Robert Redford’s schmaltzy, po-faced grief ‘em up Ordinary People.

2. Bugsy’s Perfect 10

Oscar has always had his clear favourites, and arch smooth operator Warren Beatty is definitely one of them. How else to explain the fact that his dreary and disjointed glamour biopic Bugsy scored TEN nominations at the 1992 ceremony?

Im sorry ill refrase shall i? wouldnt want to offend the children! I strongly disagree with your opinion that Jerry Maguire is anything other than a pretentious, schmaltzy, predictable, completely average movie..and Shine well deserved its win over it..is that ok?

Rocky deservedly won the Oscar, in my opinion. Even if you disagree, it certainly doesn't go down as Oscar stupidity.

Its such a shame that scorsese's only oscar is for a remake of a superier Chinese movie (Infernal Affairs for those who don't know) he should have recieved an Oscar at least for one of the 3 stand out nominations he recieved Goodfellas, Raging Bull and Taxi Driver (which is a better film than Rocky)

FORREST GUMP IS ONE OF THE BREATEST MOVIES EVER. IS A MOVIE THAT EVERYONE KNOWS, IS AN EPIC. STOP ALREADY WITH THIS PULP FICTION THING...that movie is great, but Forrest Gump is still today the movie that the audience rely on.

CHER deserved that oscar, she won several awards for that one, so it was not only the academy but everyone else agree on her winning.

Pulp Fiction over Forrest Gump? You must be kidding again! There is NOTHING original about any film Tarantino makes. The man is a hack. If you think he deserves an Oscar from recycling scenes from old films too complex for him to understand, so be it. But don't even try to claim that Forrest Gump does not deserve the Oscar.

Most Memorable or jaw-dropping would have titled this much better than stupidest. And where is Benigni receiving an Oscar for Life is Beautiful? Standing Up on the seats and going bonkers!
