The 50 Funniest Movie Moments

Watch all fifty, right here. Guffawing guaranteed...

The funniest film of all time? Easy - Monty Python's Life Of Brian. Total Film readers voted it number one, so it must be true.

But the funniest moment of all time? Much trickier. How about the top 50?

We wanted to find out, and to give us a helping hand we recently polled our Twitter followers. Following a scan of their suggestions and various office arguments, here's the results...

Let us know your favourites/the ones we missed... And be nice by linking to the video so we can splutter for ourselves.

50. Conceiving The Inconceivable
The Princess Bride (1987)

Inigo Montoya's quest for revenge ("You keeled my father..." ) is the crowd favourite, but Wallace Shawn's grinning villain Vizzini steals most of the laughs, and never more so than during his fatal final scene.

49. Spring Time For Hitler

The Producers (1968)

Only Mel Brooks could get away with filming a Nazi themed Bubsy Berkeley-style musical number (complete with spiralling swastika, shot from overhead). The best moment of Brooks' best film.

48. Shooting Marvin In The Face

Pulp Fiction (1994)

Pulp Fiction dances on the edge of funny throughout, but with Vic Vega's accidental shooting of poor, opinionless Marvin it jumps straight in at the deep end. Desensitisation to violence? Hell no - it's still really funny.

47. Seconds, Sir?
Bad Taste (1987)

Not the most gruesome scene in Peter Jackson's awesomely scatological debut, but the most disgusting and, by the film's own twisted rules, the funniest. Aliens puke steaming green horror into a giant bowl and the human hiding in their midst must drink it.

46. The Unforgiven
Rushmore (1998)

Wes Anderson's whimsical high school charmer is full of delirious flights of fancy and swooning montages. This is the best, as busy body Max Fisher trades increasingly serious pranks with arch romantic rival Herman Blume to the tune of The Who's A Quick One While He's Away.

The bit in Children of Men where Clive Owen bashes that guy over the head with a brick is pretty funny... though maybe thats just coz when I saw it the whole audience went 'Ooooh' at exactly the same time.

I think you mean Marshall McLuhan, one of the greatest media theorists ever to put pen to paper. If it's the other guy, what's the point of the joke?

Last bit of Planet of the Apes! The original film - where the statue of Liberty is sticking out of the sand? I was in a cinema which just errupted with gales of laughter!! That's the British for you ... in the US it made them cry!

I thought that Tom Cruise was hilarious in Tropic Thunder. So much so that I hoped he would at least get a Oscar nomination for it. I thought that it was a real shame and total political b.s. that he didn't get one either.
