Instead of looking forward to this film, this article seems intent on slagging off the original films. I'm really excited about this film and instead of constantly comparing I think it's probably just best to enjoy them in their own right.

Like the mention that the Stacy family seems larger in this movie than the comics. Find it a bit funny though, given the family WAS a relatively large family - at first. Wonder how many die in this film? Last I checked, Gwens cousin Jill was the only one left alive in Marvel's main continuity.

Yaaaaay! A new spiderman franchise, and there's gonna be a big CGI lizard in it. Let's s**t all over the last 3 movies because it looks like Andrew Garfield makes his own webbing.. (If you got bitten by a spider and found out you had spider like reactions, spider like senses and you could climb up walls would you not think it a bit weird/disappointing that you couldn't make your own web??)

@SeanyChacks @ash333 Apologies, it wasn't my intention to overly criticise the original trilogy, I'm still a big fan of Spider-Man 2. It's just I'm a massive geek for the comics, and it feels like Amazing is including some essential elements from the comics that, in my view, were missing from Raimi's films. @Hauntedkitty I was talking about his immediate family - there are a lot of kids around that dinner table, and in the comics Gwen is an only child. :)

New York seems to be the superheroes choice for a smackdown venue this year .. Avengers, Spiderman, Batman (as Gotham filmed in NY).

It seems to be going down the route of First Class, Amazing Spider-man is based on Ultimate but called Amazing. First Class was based on Zanny X-men but called First Class. I suppose the names they have gone with sounds better.

Also I'd like to add that perhaps the flashing LED is to indicate how much webbing he has left, when it changes colour it means he's about to run out? It makes sense, until we find out what it really is. And I love that about the Spider sense, I assume that'd look very strange in film form but it'd be hilarious to watch.

@ash333 ... you do realise taking your arguement to it's logical literal conclusion, that if they did portray a human being taking on the FULL attributes of a spider ... that the webbing would be generated and shoot forth from a gland not too far away from his arsehole (and not his wrists) .... now imagine the practical application of that ... on the big screen ... and in 3D too ... not so clever in your thinking now are ya? lol

If they showed Spider-Man's spider sense on screen the same way they do in the comics ... it would look as though Peter was being attacked by giant tadpoles! ... or black sperm ... either way, not very cinematic :-s

Raimi used slow motion very sparingly and briefly throughout his trilogy, Plus, he had organic webs in the original trilogy because Raimi felt it would be unrealistic for a high school student, even one incredibly talented at science to make a miracle adhesive in his room that not even the top industrial companies can produce with millions of dollars of funding. It's a fair poitn, but if Webb can make the concept work whilst retaining suspension of disbelief than that would be awesome. Personally, I'm both excited and apprehensive for this film. Excited because this trailer does look cool; and there are a lot of elements to it that I like. Apprehensive, because I felt that the Ultimate Spider-Man comic series was a pretty poor re-telling, turning Parker from a suffer in silence type, with the weight of the world on his shoulders to the whiny type whose always complaining about his lot. Spider-man, to me, has always been about doing what's right at the expense of your own happiness, something which Raimi's trilogy captured perfectly. Another concern, I hope Spider-man doesn't start fighting crime before his Uncle is murdered, that guilt is something which drives him. Removing the burlgar being let go by Peter only to kill his Uncle would be like having Bruce Wayne's parents killed by an out of control bus, it would miss the point entirely.

@trist808.... Good point. Little or no need for a web spinning anus in a children's movie.. I get it now

Unfortunately, until Fox's license agreement on Spidey, X-Men, and F4 expires, we will not see any of them in an Avengers movie. What I want is a Disney-quality series of animated movies.
