On paper, Captain America might not seem such a fun character to write, given that he’s probably the most straight-laced of The Avengers’ cast of colourful characters. However, for Whedon, that’s just what makes him so endearing.
“I am the guy who loves Cyclops on the X-Men, because he is square,” admits Whedon. “[Captain America] is a little square, and he is aware that he is a little square, and he is aware that the world is a beat ahead of him, or in his case, 70 beats. I think that's very disarming and very charming. I relate to that guy. I also don't know who the popular singers are right now, so he is actually really easy for me to write.”
“There were some lines where [Chris] would be like, ‘Okay, now I just sound like an idiot,’” continues the director. “And in context, I was like, ‘Yeah, actually, now that it's all laid out that is a bit much.’ He is very aware of his dignity, but at the same time understood why I wanted to find the humour in somebody who was so out of touch.”

No matter how many times I see "'The Avengers' will be out on 27th April", I always, always get excited. Mainly because it's my birthday on that day :D :D :D :D

I'm disappointed I got through all 50 slides and didn't find a promo for Goon at the end.

Didn't you know that Stiffler's one of the Avengers. American Pie and all it's cheap DTV cash ins have been building up to this one moment along with Thor, Captain America and the Iron Man movies.

1. Agreed, Maria Hill is obviously some secret project. 2. I loved Iron Man 2. It's a great ensemble film and is the only one so far to actively include Nick Fury, so you really need to look to it by now. 3. I'm probably still going to want Ed Norton. And I think most of Hulk's content is lost among people- I thought his stories have been interesting.

Yeah shame about Norton.. Ruffalo looks like fun in the role though and I'm really looking forward to seeing him spar with Downey Jnr.. I hated Iron Man 2 when I first saw it but the second time round i enjoyed it a lot. The only one of the movies I thought was a bit cack was Captain America. I thought the first half was great but as soon as he became the Cap it all went down hill.. it was like they just tacked on a load of dismal action scenes. Looking forward to this though

Sorry to be picky, but there's been FOUR individual films featuring the FOUR main characters in the build up to The Avengers: IRON MAN was first but then it was followed by THE INCREDIBLE HULK just a month later in June 2008, with THOR & CAP being the 3rd & 4th films. T.I.H. is part of the current cannon of films, in fact scenes from that film were used in IRON MAN 2 at the end when Fury de-briefs Stark, so it's a bit of an over-sight to miss it out really :)

Trist808, I don't remember Fury taking Starks pants off, maybe thats another movie lol. Yeah it looks like fun, everyone bringin something unique to the table with the exception of Johansson who is another chick in a catsuit shooting people *yawwwn * (looks at watch).

:D I got to watch the avengers unfinished movie from http://movieleakz.com/the_avengers I am pretty sure the official one coming out in may will look kind of different than the one I watched since they have to change audio and add some more scenes.

Hadouken, it may have been an "extended" cut I saw - lol. I've seen on other posts you're not exactly a big fan of Black Widow are you? Is that because of the little screen time she had in Iron Man 2? Let's face it she barely registered in the film, but I think the idea was to introduce her with an air of mystery, which kinda backfired, or is it you have no love for the character in general in the comics? Or Johansson perhaps? I get where you're coming from, but in many ways she's the original sexy chick in a catsuit shooting people ... she's been doing it in the comics for well over 50 years now. Although in the comics it's usually her wrist gauntlets doing the talking, not a standard issue fire-arm. I'm hoping she'll at least get to use her Widow's Sting in the film. In the books she's the ultimate spy, in the film she's apparently the world's best assassin. I personally still wish they'd gone for Wasp, Ms Marvel or even the 2nd Captain Marvel as the female addition to the team, but we're stuck with Widow until the sequel.

Pretty sure the second Avenger to be launched was technically Hulk... or are we just forgetting the Downey Jr. cameo in the Incredible Hulk??

God I hope this is gonna be good, especially after all of the build up, preperation, extra ending scenes and all of the working and organisation clearly been put in to it by everyone!! Its coming up against some serious competition this summer, but in a different way and for different reasons it can clearly be just as good as TDKR. Still a shame about Norton not being Hulk but......i know i need to get over it! One thing though I do like continuity and both Cap and Thor look physicaly less buff? dissapointing as i thought they both looked impressive in their own movies.........not really interested in spin off movies for Hawkeye and black widow, kinda feels like they would go into Daredevil / Elektra territory!.........Sorry!
