He gave some amazing performances, although you are a decade out on Get Shorty (t'was 1995), the first film I took notice of him was The Mexican - absolutely stole the whole film, without show-boating, wodnerful actor who will be sorely missed :( R.I.P. James, you left us far too soon.

A great actor ... will be missed a lot! I also enjoyed him very much in "The Last Castle"!

Well, you missed one of his greatest (supporting) roles : the dirty cop he played in Sidney Lumet's Night Falls On Manhattan. Among a cast of heavyweights (Andy Garcia, Richard Dreyfuss, Ian Holm...), you couldn't keep your eyes off him. It was a great and nuanced performance in a great but little-seen film. James Gandolfini was a remarkable actor. He'l be missed.

I was always fond of The Man Who Wasn't There. Some great sparring with Billy-Bob Thornton...

His role in True Romance is my favourite part he's played, with Lou from Fallen a close second.
