Gaze upon the glory of Nolan's latest…
Exclusive: Magic In The Moonlight behind the scenes stills
We see: A pretty hideous-looking Middle-earth ne'er-do-well being constructed, with an actor cocooned somewhere inside all that lumpy, pallid amphibian flesh.
We assume the plastic face mask is there to keep bits from dropping off as they work, rather than indicating that The Hobbit is going to be populated by evil but largely recyclable horrors.
We hear: "We wanted to create a very non-human shape."
We learn: It's looking fairly likely that not all of the on-screen action will centre around tea, pipe-smoking and magic fireworks in The Shire.

The plastic face mask isn't to stop things dropping off, it's an animatronic 'skull' which will have a foam latex mask put over it, allowing the face to have a full range of expression. How can you be a film magazine and not know that?

I was being flippant, BV - like with the recycling thing in the same sentence. I do indeed realise bits of movie character's faces don't just 'fall off' unless sheathed in a see-through helmet; that would presumably make shooting a scene quite a frustrating experience. Apologies if I wasn't being obvious enough.

Is that Sean Slater from Eastenders on the left on page 9? Sorry if I just demonstrated my geekiness there.

@MarkPowell @Sifi83 Wow, my a*se is red raw after that spanking! Serves me right for being half asleep and grumpy when I wrote my overly facetious comment! My own apologies for being a c**k, and for the record I think I may have got as excited as you did by the blog.
