First published in September 1937, The Hobbit was written by English author J.R.R. Tolkien and charted the unexpected journey of a hobbit called Bilbo Baggins.
The novel’s continued success has led to Tolkien being labelled the father of modern fantasy, and he’s inspired an entire genre of copycats and tributes. The book has never been out of print.

I believe Sting only glows for Orcs. Not orcs & goblins. Cannot wait for these films. So blown away by the first triology!

I am so glad that no other director made these films. As much as it would have been interesting to see Del Toro's vision of this world, and the fact that the book is a different tone to the LoTRs ones, seeing that first trailer made me realise that no one else but Jackson could have made them. It was as if they'd found some lost footage from the rings films and put them together. Still think it should have said.....'Next December...Return, to Middle Earth.....' in the trailer though.

Can't wait to hear Cumberbatch as Smaug, Tom Waits would have been better though...
