The Story Of Gladiator 2

The astonishing sequel that never was.

7. Unleash Hell

Did Cave forget the blood and thunder? No chance. Dozens of Christians being hacked to death by the Emperor’s forces... The Colosseum completely flooded with ships battling hundreds of alligators with fireballs and arrows. A gigantic final battle between Lucius’ army and Maximus’ Christian rebels...

8. Long Goodbye

Maximus is finally doomed to fight for eternity: the sole survivor of the countless skirmishes between Christians and Muslims in Crusades, battling tanks in World War Two, attacking Vietcong with a flamethrower in ’Nam... In the present day, Cave’s script leaves him working in the Pentagon.

9. The End

Despite praise from Crowe and Scott, Cave’s script was deemed too over the top and stayed on the shelf. In fact, his sequel repeats many of the same beats as the original. But it’s brilliantly written, full of rich characters, action and heartbreaking emotion. One day, maybe...

The only way to go with Gladiator 2 would be a re-incarnation story set about 30 years later. An Oracle tells RC that he was once a great warrior and to set the troubles straight in his present life he has some unfinished business from his past life. Rome STILL has an Emperor, that little brat (Diane Krueger's son) has grown up to be a Nero-esque meglomaniac mad man.

The end is just Wolverine with less mutants! Sounds interesting but nobody in their right mind would make it.

I think naturally people would love to see a sequal to a great epic, but realistically some films need to stay as a solo effort and are better as one movie, shawshank redemption, usual suspects, american history X e.t.c., Gladiator bares no exception, regardless of how exciting the premise of a sequal may be or how well written the script is.....Leave it alone!!!!!

Despite how ridiculous this all originally sounded, if done right then it could of been something really special but if I did have a big problem with the ending I can't really see Maximus, destroying tanks, weilding a flame thrower or working in the pentalgon. I have to admit that actually made me laugh, I'm glad it was never made. It would of destoryed the originals acclaim
