Before Chris Hemsworth came onboard, Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård was being tipped as the most likely candidate for the title role.
The True Blood star, who plays devilish vamp Eric in HBO’s sexy, sinewy drama, confirmed during an interview with Black Book that he had auditioned “many, many times” for Thor, but finally lost out.
“I know that they considered me for the part and I got, from what I understand, very close to getting it,” he says.
“And that’s amazing because I know how many guys they look at for a part like that. I was very humbled by that. It was a great experience and you know you win some you lose some, of course I wanted to do that but…”
Better luck next time, Skars. Maybe a villainous role in the sequel would help heal those wounds?

I can not wait thor this. Everything sounds great so far! Thor is one of my fav marvel characters, so to see Chris Hemsworth in the suit for the first time was pretty amazing!

MARVEL STUDIOS can do no wrong at the moment. Fox & Sony ought to take note on how to faithfully adapt MARVEL characters for the big screen.

The aesthetics in "Thor" sounds like it's going to look absolutely amazing. This is what I love about MARVEL STUDIOS. They respect and are true to the original source material. Their passion, their dedication and great work ethic in faithfully bringing their characters to the big screen without comprimise really sets them apart. Unlike Fox & Sony who have totally butchered the MARVEL characters they have undeservedly been privileged to work with .

Whilst I'm a fan of Samuel L Jackson, I'm not a big fan of the "Ultimate" series at all. I would have prefered the original Nick Fury. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. :-)
