HURRY! THE RESULTS ARE IN
The lines are closed, the votes have been counted and verified by an independent auditor (well, the work experience bloke in the office that week), and we can now reveal that the 100 films to be evicted from that corner of your brain where your favourite movie memories reside are... well, shift your gaze to the bottom of this page and you can see for yourself.
Last year, we published our first guide to the 100 Greatest Movies Of All Time, as selected by the somewhat obsessive Total Film team. Settling on a list that reflected the full range of tastes amongst Total Film critics was a heated process marked by passion-fuelled debate (maybe that was just the Guinness) and friendship-rocking subterfuge (how the hell did that get on there?). And, no, time doesn’t heal all wounds: one member of the Total Film team still fuming about Akira Kurosawa’s absence from our 2005 line-up.
Once we published our final 100, you naturally had your own comments to make. Of course, everyone’s own list of favourite films is a reflection of personality as well as taste. But your feedback was so impassioned, it seemed only fair to turn the Top 100 over to you this year.
So several months ago, we launched our 100 Greatest Movies Of All Time poll across the UK, and you responded to the invitation by voting in your tens of thousands (final tally: more than 40,000 votes!). You’ve made at least one person very happy by voting one of Kurosawa’s samurai classics onto the list.
So we hope you enjoy the handsome 2006 edition celebrating your Top 100. Head over to the Forum and let us know what you think of the results. But remember – this time, they’re your picks...
