Jack Nicholson is Robert Dupea, a brilliant classical pianist from a well-to-do family, who ups and leaves it all, choosing a life of uncertainty and emptiness. Director Bob Rafelson creates a subtle and thoughtful character study which is just as effective more than two decades later.
