Robert Downey Jr

The first film i saw Robert in was "Iron Man" and i believed that he was a very talented actor and his proformance in "Tropic Thunder" reinforced that fact. Now hes doing "Sherlock Holmes" and "Iron Man 2" so i will be seeing they films when they are released.
Does anyone agree or disagree with me as i can be very narrow mined?:)

Robert Downey jr

No i don't think you are being narrow minded, RDJ (Robert Downey jr) is a very good actor, who can adapt to mostly any role he takes on. The first film i saw him in was also IronMan, which was a very good film, but RDJs acting skills really came through when he played Charlie Chappling in Chappling. But other roles he has taken on such as Kirk Lazarus in the film tropic thunder and Sherlock Homes really showed his acting skills can be streched. :)

For a non-blockbuster performance of his you want to check out Zodiac and Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang, not taking anything away from him in the previously mentioned films, but alot of what I see when watching those (rather good fun) films is his charisma doing most of the work. Whish is no bad thing at all. :D

Robert Downey Jr. is just a natural actor, he's got the charisma, the timing, the dramatic chops for sure. He's just fun to watch, he doesn't even need a script to go by. He's always been great, even when he was little he just chewed up scenery with who ever he was with. It's not surprising that he anchoring two huge franchises now, Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes. :)

The problem with Downey Jr, is that most of the time he plays Downey Jr, the wise-cracking, smart-arsed individual who refuses to take others seriously. If you look at his performances in the early days - Air America, Soap Dish, Only You, there's little difference in those characters to the ones he plays now. Downey Jr can show range (Chaplin being the obvious example), but unfortunately the public seem content to continue letting him phone in the performances. It's a shame, because arguably, he's a wasted acting talent.
