Worst Screen Performance (from a usually decent actor)

Why not? We've done best, whats the worst you have seen on the big screen, most importantly, why?

Me first.

Eli Roth in Inglorious Basterds. What a sham this guy is, he's dire as a Director, I wonder what made Tarantino think he would be any good as an actor?
And the man has a good eye for the right actor for the right part; Just look at Christoph Waltz.
But the blame cant be put on his shoulders alone, no, most of that goes to Roth himself.
The worst scene is the "Bear Jew" moment, when he is called upon to dispatch some Nazi stooge. What we need is a frighting man, a man who can act his socks off and scare us with his savagery, as much as his victim. Instead we get a hollow, listless, limp wristed display of forced lines and smug grinning, nothing feels natural with this guy. And hes the same throughout the film, even in the daft comedy moments in the cinema when he is pretending to be Italian, its meant to be a lighthearted silly moment before the impending carnage, its totally ruined by his total inability to convey anything.
I've heard that Adam Sandler was in line for the part but had to pull out, shame, despite his comic (if you can call it that) origins he would of been a damn sight better.

Eli Roth you are here by on the list, consider yourself in danger.

He's in greater danger from std's from Peaches Geldof. :)

As to the question, I shall have to think. There are so many bad actors, easy to name but we've been there before. It might be more challenging to name those who are not usually appalling but on one certain occasion, turned out a stinker of a performance. I shall come back to this when I has fought.

It's also very easy to say actors are crud when the material is bad i.e. Twilight. Let's be honest, the actors didn't have much to play with. It ought to be actors who were awful in what was otherwise a fairly decent film.

Well I both agree and disagree, actors have been known to do well out of a poor script, in fact if they can do that they deserve more credibility. Poor story cant always stop a good performance.

William Hurt in 'History of violence' - A good performance, just not sure what film he was in.

Mark Wahlberg in The Lovely Bones, and probably anything else that he has been in.

Yes I did, you jogged my memory on his bad performance.

So, Nic Cage... How do you even begin to single out one of his performances as worse than any of his others?
