The Nightmare before Christmas. Is it a Halloween or Christmas Movie??

Its my favourite musical, and up there among the best of the best. Atmospheric, scary and funny, who doesn't love Tim Burton's festive classic? But, festive to what festival? Christmas or Halloween? I can't decide. I want it to be Halloween so I can watch it NOW, but is that....wrong?
Please help!!!!

Good question! Nothing stopping you watching it whenever you want. I think of it as more of an Xmas film myself.

It's a Christmas movie. The characters are based in Halloween Town but it's their desire to experience ~*Christmas*~ which drives and motivates the story.
Of course it's a perfect Halloween watch too.

The first time I ever saw it was at Christmas so through association it's always going to be a christmas movie for me. That's just a pesonal opinion though. The Tim Burton style always has a darker more halloweeny look to it though. I don't know. Little Shop of Horrors my favourite musical but saying that i watched all three High School Musical films with bthe kids yesterday and to be honest there's worse things to do on a Sunday afternoon.

Always going to be a Christmas movie in my mind

I agree it is really a Christmas movie as shown by it being reissued at the Cinema for the last 2 Christmases, although it does work as an Halloween film also.

I'd say that The Nightmare before Christmas is probably a combination of both Christmas and Hallowe'en.

I think I would say a Christmas film. However the best festive movie of all time is Silent Night Deadly Night. No Christmas Eve at Daniels house is complete without it:D

All year round movie for me but then I am a shameless Goth.

I try to keep it for a christmas movie since there is a lack of good one's and loads to watch for Halloween
