"Best & Worst: Superhero Movies" feature

No sign of Ang Lee's Hulk. Where would you put it: Best or Worst? I'd definitely put it in Best, but it has taken a lot of flack. I liked the way it explained Banner's back story, and how the gamma radiation affected him due to his Dad, and also loved all of the action too. |
Have you read some of the comments after this feature? There's a lot of love for the Adam West Batman movie and Daredevil which is creeping me out a bit:confused:.

I don't agree with Wolverine & Blade Trinity being in the worst category.
|
I didn't care much for 'Wolverine' at first and wrote a review along the same lines a month or two back, but there is a charm there on repeated viewings and for me that charm comes from the supporting characters like Blob, Deadpool etc. There is a bit more fun to it than the original X-Men trilogy, which I guess alienated some fans and myself initially.
'X2' is vastly superior to the first X-Men and would have usurped it for me,' Last Stand' for one of the worst. 'Daredevil' isn't bad at all, it's not the greatest, but it's not the worst by any stretch. 'Hancock' had potential, but lost it's balls by trying to be Will Smith audience friendly and should qualify as one of the worst. Wasted opportunity. I have a lot of love for the 'Swamp Thing' movie, very goofy and the two kids in it crack me up, but haven't seen it for ages. No 'Catwoma'n? Or did I miss it in a broadband infused refresh frenzy? I've not seen it, nor will I ever, but Halle Berry dressed as an S&M Mickey Mouse must surely qualify it as being ass? |

Hancock was another missed opportunity. It starts off great and I have never seen Smith better than this revelling in portraying such a loathesome excuse for a superhero. Apparently original scripts were much darker and cynical throughout but the final result is like the first half of a great film and the second half of a Fantastic 4 film. I've started rewatching the X-men films because of this feature. X-men, though not as breathtaking as X2 should still be on the list. It's enjoyable from start to finish and quite tongue in cheek at times, not afraid to poke fun at its comic book roots. |
I don't like the X-Men franchise one bit. Perhaps because Wolvering, whilst supposedly one of the hardest comic characters, is painted as a bit of a puff.
Granted he beats up humans in the first film, but gets his ass handed to him be Sabretooth. Throughout the entire franchise, there is jsut too much talking, and not nearly enough action. The fact that so much could have been made of Colossus in X2, and yet he was barely seen really bugs me too! Juggernaut could have been put to far better use too! The entire franchise could have done so much more, as far as I'm concerned. Blade:Trinity is/was shite. Blade 2 trumped Blade in my eyes. Hulk beat The Incredible Hulk for me. Superman Returns did nothing for me. Spawn was shite, I agree. Flame away! |

From what I remember, Superman Returns was aesthetically accomplished. However, unlike videogames, I very often do not look for that in a film. I look for something to engage me, such as story, or characters, or for there to be suspense, or scares. Superman Returns had none of these. [SPOILERS] I have to say that Hulk, for me, had loads of action! More so than the X-Men films. Hulk fights tanks, planes, giant mutant dogs, and then his dad! I dunno, for some reason, I just found Hulk a very satisfying expierence, through and through. OK, I'll give Blade that, as far as it being a good popcorn movie. Some of the lines are WAY to cheesy though. Some of them even compare with Wesley Snipes' "always bet on black" line from Passenger 57! For what's it's worth, my favourite Superhero films, not in any particular order: Hulk Spiderman Blade II Films I particularly dislike as I feel they are missing something (even if that 'something' is that they failed to live up to my expectations), though that's not say I won't watch them: Spiderman 2 The Incredible Hulk X-Men 1, 2, and 3 Superman Returns Spawn (though this is a far worse film than all of the the above) They may not necessarily be bad films, as films go, they just don't do it for me. Oh, and from what I've seen of Daredevil, it was actually pretty enjoyable to watch. |
Yeah, Hulk is good, but It's a bit too thoughtful to be compared to some of the other braindead actioners on the list.
Best line in Blade, "Some motherf*****s are always trying to ice-skate uphill." For random, bizarre film lines, that is one of the most random and bizarre I ever heard.:D "Oh, and from what I've seen of Daredevil, it was actually pretty enjoyable to watch." This film seems to be more widely accepted than I thought:D. I really hate it though. I've given it a good few chances over the years but I can't find much to like in it. |
I dont agree with the Wolverine film I thought it was quality!! I thought it came together well for the cont on to X Men film! Only gripe I had was with how deadpool ended up with cyclops laser vision n has his mouth stiched up!!! WTF?? He is the merc with a mouth!!!!
