'Dark Blue' a bizarre retro cop thriller set during the Rodney King riots, it has Kurt Russell in, with long hair, drinking whisky and being genuinely gruff.

I watched that a couple of days ago. I couldn't really get into it but I didn't delete it so I can give it a chance later. Just noticed the Prestige is on in an hour. I've never seen it and always wanted to.

Dark Blue is a strange film, the acting talent is decent (Gleeson, Russell and Rhames!), the plot is a bit limp and it's hard to suspend disbelief against such a well publicised true life even where high profile figures such as Police Chiefs are involved.

But, I liked the 80s haircuts, the awesomely bad 80s synthesiser score, it was kind of like the anti-Lethal Weapon, just had elements from cop films from three separate decades.

I was left feeling indifferent, I'd recommend The Prestige any day, Dark Blue isn't worth going back to. It's shot with as much verve as an episode of 'Diagnosis Murder'.
