Hey guys, heads up. I'm launching a project to open up the site for our readers to write about the films they love. If you're interested in writing for TotalFilm.com, then read the below and get in touch via the email link. I wanted to offer the forum first dibs on getting involved, so that means you'll also be in a position to suggest improvements and give feedback. If you have any questions, comments or ideas let me know.
Hopefully you'll all want to get involved and help make TotalFilm.com even better!
Want to write for Total Film?
We're looking for intelligent, passionate and entertaining writers to contribute informative and witty entries on the films they love.
If your writing is chosen for publication, you'll get your name on the website - and the best pages will be featured around the site.
And if the work you produce really stands out, we might invite you to come and write a feature for totalfilm.com!
Who should apply?
You might have a penchant for obscure Giallo, a hankering for low-budget horror... Or maybe you're the all-knowing guru of '80s movies...
Maybe you've made an independent film and want to tell the world about it... Or perhaps there's an upcoming movie you have the inside track on.
If any of these sound like you, we want to read your words!
What do I have to do?
Our film homepages are a one-stop hub for all the info on a title.
All you have to do is pick a film you love and get writing.
We'll need you to cover the following...
In a Nutshell: A one-sentence summary of the film. Can be funny, serious. irreverent or literal - as long as it functions as a super-brief description of what the film is all about.
Tagline: Just the line from the poster. If there's more than one, you can list them all, or choose your favourite. If the film doesn't have a poster yet, then make one up yourself!
Quotes: Up to three of your favourite quotes from the film. These can be one-liners or short exchanges between characters. Make sure they are accurate to the best of your knowledge.
Plot:*A 250-word synopsis of the film. Again this can be
funny, as in our example, or
sensible (well, relatively) - but it MUST NOT INCLUDE SPOILERS.
This is your chance to show the world that you can write entertaining copy. So be creative - and most of all, have fun.
If it isn't fun to write, it won't be fun to read.
Anything over 250 words will be thrown into a big burning bin, so please check your word count before you send your entry.
Trailer: If you want, we can embed a trailer for the film on the page. Either give us the URL or the embed code to a trailer from a site like YouTube, Vimeo, Yahoo! Movies or MetaCafe.
Username: Don't forget to include your name as you want to see it on the site. This might be your full name, or your totalfilm.com alias. Anyone using a blatantly offensive false identity will be ruthlessly ignored.
How many entries can I write?
There is no limit! If you're keen to see your name all over totalfilm.com then you can write as many as you want. Alternatively, just put all your efforts into writing one amazing entry.
What if the entry I want to write already exists?
Try and choose films that are less well-known. The most popular films will attract more entries, and there can be only one.
Once we've chosen an entry for a film, then that film will be closed and subsequent entries will be ignored.
If you've written an entry and more information is released, such as a trailer, then just email us the link and we'll add it to the page.
How do I enter?
Just register (only registered users can submit),
then click here and email us your entry - be sure to use the above headings!
What if my entry isn't used?
Then keep trying! We're a small but highly discerning team here at totalfilm.com, and we'll make sure every unique, well written, complete entry makes it to the site.
What are you waiting for? Get writing for totalfilm.com now!
