All the scenes set in Blighty were like a rose tinted fairy tale - awful. The only good bit was the trench warfare, the rest was so sugar coated, that it was an embarrassment. Spielberg isn't improving, bless him. And why do casting directors insist on always putting some wet-wipe in the heroic role? Why can't we have heroes, who whilst young, have a bit of character to their faces, rather than dewey eyed charisma vacuums?
And why....*spoiler alert* did it end like Gone with the Fucking Wind??
