Sorry to revive a dead thread, but I was going to make a thread on 'The Room', then found this and I'm shocked that no-one's mentioned it. Absolutely hysterical. It's not been made by people with a bad grasp of acting and filmmaking, its made by people with a bad grasp of reality and all social interaction.
This is one of the best scenes, but its not one of those bad films that can be summed up in a youtube video. Worth seeing the whole thing.
That goes double for this bad boy:
The Visitor/Stridulum, directed by Giulio Paradisi. Saw it at a special screening and the audience was howling, its funnier than most genuine comedies. It seems to be trying to make some deep philosophical point but makes no sense whatsoever. For instance, it's so pretentious it's narrated by
Jesus Christ himself, who features at the beginning and end of the film
on a spaceship. Here's a picture of him:
Don't expect anyone to watch it all but check out the first three minutes of the video I linked to - it'll give you the flavour. [*cough*and the related links contain the film itself, ahem]
It also gives you a dose of the soundtrack - which is actually genuinely brilliant in a very seventies way. The song that plays in the background - it plays every time that old man appears, even when he's doing something completely mundane like sitting down reading the paper.
I would honestly urge everyone to watch this film, preferably slightly drunk. I'd recommend it as much as any genuinely decent film, plus its right there on youtube! Trust me, you won't regret it.
