Default Is Kermode the right man for Film 2010? Who's your favourite critic?

I'd rather see those crazy guys who used to present Vidz do it or maybe Mark Cousins have a go but I think Lermode will probably get it.

I suppose you can't argue with a man who rates The Excorcist as his favourite film: http://www.wbqonline.com/feature.do?featureid=453

Kermode knows his stuff, no one can deny that, but visually, he's not an oil painting, and is actually quite painful to listen to on the radio, let alone having to see him on the screen. Saying that, better him than Paul Ross.

Slightly off topic, but if you haven't tried them already I can highly recommend Barry Norman's pickled onions.

I suppose I could, but I don't know anything about the pickling process.

Thanks for that. Mark Kermode is so annoying, he dosen't just rate The Exorcist as his favourite film, the man's obsessed with it. It hasn't even stood the test of time.
Whoever gets the job, chances are they'll be annoying.

Kermode isn't doing it -and that's from the horse's mouth. It was all just speculation since, after Jonathon Ross, the only other film critic most people can think of is Kermode.

I like Kermode (and having just met him can say he's a really down to earth and truly smashing bloke) and put more faith in a reviewer who will justify why he thinks The Exorcist is the greatest film ever made over someone who just says Citizen Kane (or whatever). He reviews from the heart and not from some highbrow arty perspective.

Having said that, he did like Star Trek, which was rubbish.

Pish, the effects may of aged but the fillm itself still has the power to scare, not to mention the deft Direction and ********** performances, and not just from young Linda Blair.

Personally I would like to see Mark Kermode doing it, he may well be a tad annnoying, but there is no doubt he understands film in all its aspects far better than Wossy. Who is also annoying.

I'm not too fussed, Film 2010 is hardly a must see film programme. Ross sucked up to those he interviewed, and it was pretty much a clips show. If you want indepth reviews try things like The Culture Show or Kermode and Mayo podcasts.

Default Best TV/Radio critic - Kermode?

I absolutely adore Mark Kermode, I think he's witty, intelligent, passionate and articulate. I don't always agree with his views but he sure as hell makes good points. My mate on the other hand can't stand him and prefers Charlie Brooker and Roger Ebert. So, I was just wondering if it was just me who is a Kermode cheerleader or am I one of many?

By the way, his book is definitely a must read!
