Voting policy for 2010
Right guys 'n' gals, I would love to know your opinions on the parties this year and their manifestos, who you are going to vote for (if you want to share that is) and why. I'm still on the fence, I have been following them, all very closely, but I am still undecided as to who to vote for.

None Of The Above would suit me.
Im of the opinion that we need to abolish the party structure and the current system of voting and go for a government where positions are given to the best people for the job. Get the government back to looking out for the public and do away with all the pointless infighting. IF I vote it may well be Liberal as they want to reform things. Unfourtunately the rest of their policies leave a lot to be desired so I don't know.

Whats your constituency? Is it a safe seat for a party or might it change hands?

I've always despised people who don't vote because they think they're 'making a difference'. If you don't vote, you have lost your right to have a voice, it's as simple as that.
I live in a constituency that's always closely fought between the Tories and the LibDems, so whilst I'm a socialist at heart, I will do whatever I can to ensure that the Tories, who I detest with every fibre of my being, don't get in.

In case you hadn't noticed we live in a DEMOCRACY. That means I have a right to free speech and to say what I want. If that happens to be the fact that I think the present governmental system is a load of crap I have a right to say so. You cannot take this away just because I choose not to vote in a corrupt, pointless government who will cause me no end of grief. Stand up and be different for a change and stop thinking along such blinkered institutionalised lines. It really bothers me that people in this country although they don't like a party will vote them in just because they think they have to. If you vote in anyone who you believe is not the right person for the job then that is a wasted vote just as if you didn't bother. The only difference being that once more the public have voted an idiot into power. End of rant.

There is something like 48% of the country that is hamstrung like this and we like to call it a fair method of voting. Dream On.

Ancient, have a look at the thread I've bumped in the o.g. You'll find everything we have to say on the subject has already been covered thoroughly.
edited to add Now I've had time to glance over that old thread I can see you had your say on it, like everyone else. So I guess we'd be treading over old ground to get into the "should we vote or not?" debate. Last edited by Kiba.; 02-05-2010 at 07:41 PM. |
