Default Christopher Walken

Christopher Walken on the cover of the Russian version of Esquire magazine.

That picture is completely terrifying...but a good way to start a thread. Anyone got any views on the man? Favourite roles?

I love him, he's one of my favourites and a true movie star. He's interesting whatever the film is about and sometimes the only thing that's good in a film. Chris is one of Hollywood's great eccentrics but he's 100% New York. He is more unique than anyone else and extremely funny.

Favourite films: King of New York, The Dead Zone. The Prophecy. I'm not saying they're his best films; just the ones I most enjoy watching him in.

As Kiba says, a true original, always interestng to watch and capable of astounding performances. His memorable speech to Dennis Hopper in True Romance always sticks in my mind as does his relentless portrayal of Sgt. Toomey in Biloxi Blues.

... Oh, and the man sho can dance!

I once heard that Walken tries to have it written into all his contracts that he should have at least one dance per film. I've never been able to fully substantiate this, but I love ticking off a film, especially when you think there's no chance he'll get to boogie, eg Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead - he's in a wheelchair for Christ's sake - but there's a flashback scene - and guess what - he's dancing!!!

Great story Liz - sounds kinda plausible too!

There's a fantastic song and dance number in Pennies From Heaven and he even manages a brief boogie in Click not to mention a tidy bit of gyrating in King Of New York. Legend.

I agree with The Dead Zone and The Prophecy. He plays two very different roles but in his own singular way so that by the end of each film you couldn't imagine anyone else in the roles.
I can watch him in anything.

Ditto. He makes everything his own. The man can dance like the devil, he can cook. AND he loves cats. I honestly think he's a near ideal human being.

I could wax lyrical about him all day. My fave roles are True Romance, King Of New York, Dead Zone and The Prophecy.

He was at his best, for me, in The Deer Hunter, not only is it wonderful performance from him, he also out acts everyone on screen, including DeNiro at the height of his powers.

Its probably best to find out if anyone on here doesnt like him.....and why
