Has blu-ray restored your love of Film?

Well, first of all, I am partially blind. Yeah. Hope you feel guilty now.

Of course I can see the ruddy difference between Blu-Ray and DVD, I ain't no spacktard. It's just had zero effect on my views towards cinema. Maybe I haven't watched enough, but it doesn't instil me with new-found passion or whatever. Like I said, I watch many films in the cinema, and the ones that I don't have yet to be released on Blu-Ray (watched Mississippi Burning recently, it was alright).

Plus, I time my cinema visits, so whenever I go I'm either there by myself or seeing films where there will be no loud plebs.

It's definitely a nice thing, but right now, doesn't interest me. Naturally, the pricing is what really puts me off (I spend a ridiculously small amount of money in my day-to-day life).

I envy your ability to visit the cinema often and time it to when it suits, but many of us in this rushed modern world are not able to do so. I can't often afford the cinema as from where I sit it's still a rip-off and my local Vue never shows anything but cak. Even then it's selective in the crap that it shows.. for example it would never show, say Legion. Because by their standards that's exotic crap. but I digress.

A Blu-ray player need not cost more than £100- 130 these days and that's not a cheapo brand but decent kit like Phillips or Sony. The price of discs is still an issue, yep but bargains can be found if you are canny and sniff them out.

Ok, you're not ready for the Blu-ray revolution, but I'm just saying that even stuff that makes average viewing on DVD can be given a fresh exciting look on BD. Like X-Men or Resident Evil. And you can be on Blu-ray and still be a cheapskate cos I definitely am.

My VUE cinema in Thurrock, Essex is not showing Legion and it didn't show The Hurt Locker either if I remember correctly. The Showcase cinema in Bluewater shopping centre over the good old river thames is the nearest one that shows all types of films.

Frankly, I can see my stance on Blu-Ray changing the moment Sergio Leone films get announced for the format.

I lurve Blu-Ray, and it has totally revamped my love of watching films at home. I love scouring Amazon for new BDs, its always exciting getting a new one through the post, I cant wait to see how the transfer is and just how epic and amazing it looks. It sounds daft but there a few moments that I will never forget when i first clapped eyes on BD.

Totes agree with you dude. There are some real surprises to be found because some old films you can now see clearer than the grainy print they had at the cinema or your old VHS or DVD copy. I'm looking forward to watching Jonesy's 2001 blu-ray some time on his big telly I'm sure it's going to blow us away.

Oooo, let me know what 2001 ws like, I'v been tempted by it before...I usually find the film a tad dull* but it might be worth getting on BD, whatever I say about it, visually its utterly stunning.

My love of movies has improved big time since i got a blu-ray player the picture and sound quality blew me away i have a Panasonic DMP-BD80 it's a great player i'm looking forward to the terminator box-set a lot

If anyone still doesn't get what blu-ray is all about then they should take a look at Avatar as the PQ is stunning.
