Question District 9 sequel?

District 9 blew me away and has left it open for a sequel. Any ideas? Should they do one? Should Christopher come back and save Wikus? Would love to hear your ideas.

I liked District 9 too and for that reason I hope there will not be a sequel. Sometimes it seems like any characters being left alive leaves something open for a sequel but it shouldn't. It's better to quit while you're ahead before you ruin it.
The number of sequels truly worth seeing are still the exception rather than the rule.
Inferior directors are sometimes brought in for sequels because they're cheaper or more available, that does not help either.

Couldn't agree more. I have this horrible feeling that a sequal would end up like another Blair witch scenario.

I believe that because the ending is left wide open doesn't mean that it's open for a sequel - I thought the ending to District 9 was rather poetic and a sequel would also taint that. The open ending allows the viewer to think for themselves: "What's a possibility? What could happen next?" - we don't get many films like this nowadays.

Theres talk, as I'm sure some of you have read, that the sequel will be a prequel, set before the events of D9. Its a different approach, which I like, but I do hope they dont mess it up.

I think that if the creators have another story to tell, i wouldn't mind being behind a sequal, but if its the studio cashing in, then i might not be as supportive. Really depends on where they are going to go with it, it a nicely rounded film as it is.

if Blomkamp and Jackson have anything to do with it I would imagine that whatever studio it is will have little or no control. I only want to see a sequel if it goes in a new direction. I love D9, mainly for its originality, so the sequel needs to do the same; and by that I mean by original again, not just copy the originality that has gone before it. Fingers crossed.
