Default The Future Killed Musicals.

Chicago and Moulin Rouge were excruciating to watch and left me hankering for the genius of the old stars. The Kellys, Charisses and Astaires of this world would be disgusted at what the musical has become: a playground for amateurs, who mistakenly believe they have talent.
In todays film industry everyones in it for the money no?
Musicals are a prime example of an easy way to make this money. Kids love 'em and so does anyone over the age of 60 who actually grew up with some decent ones. The greats have had their day "The Wizard Of Oz", "Oliver" and many others from that era. To make a remake of such films would be outrageous and awful so as nobody seems to come up with any good ideas, they make bad ones such as HSM. The art of Musicals is dying which really is sad and its being over thrown by the fact that everyone just wnats money money money. To be fair, every film genre is suffering from this fact.

From that era? You consider 40 years a single era of film? And why would it just have to be the over 60s who appreciate the classic Hollywood musical? As for money, Hollywood has always been about money, from the '20s onwards, so I'm afraid that argument doesn't stick.

And now I've trashed your argument, I'd just like to say welcome to the forum.
