Ooh blimey. I don't like the sound of either of them for the Em & Dex. I know she can do understated but I think she's a bit too Hollywood. And I think he's a bit too understated. The book goes on about how beautiful he is...

Looking forward to comparing notes! I'll be thinking about who I would cast...

On recommendation Ive just started reading American Psycho by Brett Easton Ellis. Only a chapter in so far but it seems to be ace.

Default Jack Reacher

Does anyone read the Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child? Who would you cast as Reacher? I'm thinking a beefed up Alexander Skarsgård (Generation Kill, True Blood)...

Ive read about half of them and think theyre great. Someone really should buy up the film rights quick.
As for who plays him.. Tom Cruise ? No.. ok then I will go with either..
Clive Owen ( hes got the right looks ) or...
Jeffery Dean Morgan. Spot on in The Losers.

Read them all. Apparently a screenplay (wriiten by Lee) has been around Hollywood for years now but no one has picked up on it.

Personally, I'd cast Aaron Eckhart.

Oooh - good call (but he's only 6'1")

I read somewhere that Hugh Jackman is in the frame but he's a bit too squeaky clean, dontcha think?

I think Dean Morgan is too smarmy looking. It's a hard role to cast right since he's basically Arnie with brains.

As a 'left field' vote, i'd also suggest Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. He has the size, charisma and screen presence.

or Harrison Ford twenty years ago.

or Clint Eastwood 30 years ago

I am currently reading The Road, loaned by a friend. As expected it's just as bleak as the film.

Of course. Saying it's bleak was not a criticism. I like bleak stories. I can't say much about it as I only started it (the film has acted like a spoiler sorry to say) but I like the sparse, direct writing style. It totally suits the story. It won't take long to read, quite a short book.
