Lightbulb Cover designer

Hello,

This is really a question to Total Film, but if anyone else could help it would be much appreciated.

I am doing a graphics assignment at college and i need to know a name of someone who has done the design for one of the covers. Did they use Photoshop? Where did they aquire the image? What was the inspiration?

Can you help?
Thank you

Barry Haggis

Hi Barry,

Total Film has a team of people that work on the cover each month. The editorial staff choose the content/theme - usually based on a key new release. The Picture Ed sources the artwork and the Deputy Art Ed lays the page out. Then everybody works together to write the headlines. The Production Ed proofs it all and then the Editor/Publisher usually sign off on it before it goes to press. The images are usually sourced from the film studios when it's a big new release.

The art guys occasionally use Illustrator and Photoshop, but mainly In Design.

Default Is there somewhere I can view Total Film's cover archive?

Is there a cover archive for total film on the net? Because am really interested in viewing all the past covers. If there aint, then Total FIlm really should make a section/feature on their website where all the past covers are displayed and can be viewed.

Hi WhoDaMan,

There used to be a complete archive of all TF covers on totalfilm.com, going right back to the first issue, but when the site was redesigned in 2008, I guess this feature was discontinued...

I agree with you - it would be great if this archive was available. I've emailed your post to the Digital Team for their consideration.

In the meantime, there is a website that appears to have most of the TF covers:

http://www.whosdatedwho.com/what/mag...iew.asp?ID=420

It lists them by decade.

Thanks and I've also found this website http://www.moviemags.com/main.php?ti...FILM&etos=2010 which I think has most of the covers of Total Film displayed.

Default Archive of reviews

Hi,
is there a way of finding out which issue featured a particular review? Here I mean reviews of both cinema and DVD/BR releases.
Cheers,
-N

Right now I'm not after any particular review - it's just that after seeing a film, and usually this is quite long after its cinematic release, I want to re-read all its reviews in the past issues. The online review is fine to have, but nothing beats the hard copy... also, it seems that DVD/BR release reviews are not online?

Hi N,

At the moment there's no easy way to find out which issue an online review appeared in. Although they are the same review, I know exactly what you mean about going back and reading a hard copy.

I'll flag this to the Digital guys.

Hey N,

Just checked and there are no plans to include an issue number.

If it's any help, the release date shown on the website should help you locate an issue, ie most of the November releases are in the December issue (174).
